700 RWHP, Tire for handling and straight line traction Need some help.
Hi All,
I have done a ton of research but I need some help choosing, I'll add a link to Tire Rack with some tires I am thinking about. My Car should be over 650 RWHP once done and the I will need to replace the current Good Year F1 tires I currently have ( Which I happen to really like for handling once warm but I am not sure they can handle the higher HP Plus they are not made anymore ). We can leave price out and focus and capability of the tire. I have the Michelin PS4S at 730-ish rwhp and it hooks all right from a 30-40 roll, plus I can drive on these tires in any weather, any condition except snow or sub-30 degree temps. (The Continentals are a newer design (the "02" variant) and reported to be slightly better than the Michelins, but they don't come in the sizes I need and, subjectively their sidewall looks too bulgy for me. The PS4S has beautiful vertical sidewalls.)

I have a 5th Gen so these are the sizes that come stock. Are the nittos side walls to soft for curves?

Some people mix tires and only use these drag radials in the rear for the "best of both worlds", but I've never tried that and wouldn't want to, if I'm being honest.

I really would like a matched set, The Nittos would be kinda close if I ran their Drag Radial on the rear, The Toyo 888R are a tire that I like the look of and read good about them beside them being noisy. I am leaning towards trying the Michelins or Continetals. I wish they would come out with something that dows everything well.

Alas, you're asking for the impossible. Short and stiffer sidewalls improve cornering but hamper takeoffs in a straight line, wide water evacuation channels and sipes help tremendously in the rain but reduce surface area and thus dry traction, soft compounds are great in dry and hot weather but behave like skates in anything more chilly than 70-75 degrees... it's all a set of painful tradeoffs (sigh).
I recommended those two tires because they're covering the largest "area under the curve", ie they represent the fewest compromises overall. The Contis are tangibly cheaper, too, so there's that as well. At this power level and above, there is no road legal tire that will let you mash the pedal in a RWD car from a dead stop and hook on an untreated street surface, you can only go WOT from a roll. Some say Mickey Thompsons are very close, I haven't tried them, but they are massively compromised for normal daily driving. By the way, I had those Toyo R888Rs and sold them after a month or two. They look cool and do grip well (in the dry), but they made the car sound like a whiny monster truck above 40-45 mph, so much so that I couldn't maintain a conversation with my (soft spoken) wife in the passenger seat. The Michelins are a million times quieter, especially when new, and I'm hearing the Contis are slightly even better in the road noise department.

Yeah I know I am asking for a lot lol, I Handling,Traction,Looks at least I am not asking for Cheap.
I am hoping just to find a decent all around set up. |

I am running the ps4s tires with about the same hp but, they literally get smoked. I have found I have to lower the tp to about 26-29 so they don't spin as much. I don't need anymore hp for the street.

I would like to find something that look and perform well together, I understand I may not be able to match front and rear 100 % . High HP street car issues.
