So if you are limiting yourself to 91/93 octane, you would be better off to go 2650 vs cam/stock blower for the added cooling unless you mainly just want to hear the cam chop.
Agree wholeheartedly with this.

I also feel a 103TB is a waste on the stock blower. I’d probably go 95mm ZR1 TB. Keeps the car exciting when you punch the gas.

Cool

I sure miss my first 1989 1LE 350 auto IROC!!

Someone already suggested however, I will suggest you go a bit further... buy a plastic 55-gal drum. Clean it out thoroughly, then do it again with alcohol to remove all contaminants. Drive somewhere with a truck and fill it up with Pump E85. I have a customer in New Mexico with the same issues of 91oct fuel who has been doing this for a year with great blending results. For your normal daily driving... pump fuel is fine, but when you want more spice, add five gallons of E85 to the tank and see the results.

What is the goal other than the power? What is the usage? Street, Drag or road course?

I think it is clear to most I have pushed the stock cam and VVT to the limits in Road Racing without any failures. Gabe has selected the only cam I would in the BTR Stg1 as I would most likely go with that selection as well after taking the time in the next couple months to test another theory. I am planning to just change out the OEM DOD lifters with Johnson Short travel lifters, BTR trunnions and lighter pushrods with better/lighter valve springs to reduce the weight and drag of the valvetrain on my stock cam/VVT combo.

I am not a fan of the smaller upper pulleys, especially the GripTec as with road course usage the massive loading/unloading of the throttle cracks a whip on the belt, causing premature wear and if you are not prepared with a billet thermostat housing, another issue. You are best equipped to stick with a stock upper pulley, going with something larger to keep the most belt wrap and least slip, but when it does slip... its not wearing the belt. Also note a larger aluminum lower pulley can pull more heat out of the belt and keep it operating longer at the limits whereas the stock steel unit becomes a massive heat insulator/conductor of heat.

You and me both... currently making room in the schedule for (10) cams, but might settle on (8)... still working through the list but you can count on seeing the BTR.S1 and S3 cam in the test... more on that later...

Ive been slowly redoing my 86 iroc (have had it since high school circa 1996).been through multiple different iterations, last was a weekend strip car. 406sbc with a dual stage 250 shot. Was taking it down to metal and redoing the interior when life happened and its been sitting for about 10+ years. Ive slowly been messing with it and 1 day it will be on the road again

So im not 100% against e85. I dont daily the car. Its been pretty much just a dedicated track car except the last year i havent tracked it once, only because I was getting the wifes 99 WS6 transformed into a track car and it took most of my time up. That being said, for the tracks im near (since I dont trailer the car) even the stock 650hp was WAY more than enough power. Now with the few other mods I've done (say another 100hp worth) its almost excessive. **its also why imo the 2ss 1le is the best bang for your buck track car** imo a cam wont change much as far as power...but ported blower and e85 (e50) will. I do plan on going to futher tracks that are alittle more friendly to v8 cars, i really just need to put a upgraded trans in my truck to tow (2002 avalanche on an original 4l60e with 205k miles). Yeah... a 2500 would be idle, but I dont feel like dropping 50k for a used truck.

For the overall goal for the car... im not looking for 1000hp or anything "crazy" imo I really like tracking the car so I dont want to make it "to powerful" where it goes from controllable to sketchy as shit out of every turn.
