Rpo code “TD2 . ship thru- ground effects”?

Just got my requested build sheet.. saw a code that said TD2 ship thru-ground effects... anyone know what exactly that is? Tried looking it up and can’t find exact.. ground effects? Besides splitter there’s no ground effects so if I’m missin something I’d definately like to look into that

It's been a few years since this post, maybe someone knows more now? I've the same question, as OP posted, I've no factory ground effects.

Here's the AI response :A Chevrolet Camaro has "TD2 ship thru-ground effects" on its build sheet because the car was sent to an external, third-party vendor for specialized, body-colored, ground-effect aero parts—such as front splitters, side rockers, and rear diffusers—before final delivery to the dealer.
I've also heard where the dealership ordered certain parts with an ordered vehicle for another vehicle that may have been on their lot....

The RPO code list is already on the car when it arrives at the dealer from the manufacturer. If they were going to order a car to get a specific item they wouldn't order a whole car to take it off of. They would just order that car with it.
They do however swap parts from inventory. Wheels, hoods, spoilers. But they don't alter the RPO codes . They just let the sucker that got stuff removed deal with it.

the "redline" editions have several "dealer installed" options, like stripes.

maybe the dealer just throws them away, IDK.

the 4th gen SS cars were shipped to SLP for parts installation to become an SS, but there is not another stop between the factory & dealer now.

so "dealer installed" may mean they put the parts in the trunk at the factory, but IDK. I have not seen any proof of that on this forum.

I think 1LE hood wrap installation remained another stop between the factory and the dealer up until the last day.

There were "residual parts" with many dealer installed options, for example, if someone ordered forged wheels that were a ~$2000 option, they were entitled to the standard wheels as well, but I can imagine that few people actually wanted to take them.

It's possible that dealerships "forgot" to install certain optional items to swallow and resell them, but I haven't heard much concrete evidence of that. Mistakes were definitely made, however; for example, the 1LE style blade spoiler caps were notoriously often missing or badly installed.

84116167 is a ground effects package from GM

If silverice13ss has a 2ss with a splitter then it's part of that because that was an option. My 2ss doesn't have a splitter from the factory. I added.
It would also help to see pictures of the car we're looking into.

Good point.. So the vehicle would have the "ground effects" code even if they weren't there...

I feel like TD2 is specific to 1LE cars. That would be nice if people could verify that one.

No splitter. I’m not the original owner, can’t see anyone taking the ground effects off though, but who knows

Ordered an EOS splitter earlier today. Already have the EOS side skirts, waiting for better weather to install them. In hindsight, it’d been cheaper to have gotten them all at once as a package, but I wasn’t sure I wanted the splitter. I like the looks, but I could see it getting broken on a curb or something. Figured I’d just make it a habit of backing into parking spaces, and ordered it

I went with cheap ones from Amazon so I'm not out much if something hits it, like the 1LE guys are right now cause all that's discontinued.
I usually just plan on pulling into the spot just enough to be in it and not till my tires hit the curb. It was a learning curve coming from a lifted 4runner but i got it now.

I responded to the thread in the general forums here.

I’m almost certain TD2 is related to the install of vinyl on the car. Especially since your car has the factory dual racing stripes. Every car that has TD2 has some type of vinyl installed from the factory, be it a LS or ZL1 with stripes over the rear decklid
