Minnesota Performance Shops

I originally posted this over in the regional area, but it doesn't look like it gets much traffic, especially this time of year.

I've been thinking about doing the E85 kit on my SS, but I need to know if there is a reliable tuner in the Twin-Cities area that can tune the car, anyone have any recommendations? I've also been thinking about headers and there's no way I'm doing that job lying on my back so it'd be nice to find a shop that could do that work as well.

One thing I never like, is when website does not list prices. If a site says," call for quote", I go else where's.

It is somewhere between $1500-$2000. Including kit installation, tune, before and after dyno numbers. They do a custom tune and the best in the area.

Thanks for the info. I'd do all the labor, I just need it tuned and it'd be nice to know what the gains are. For my further edification, would I need to be running E85 91 all the time after the upgrade?

Not a fan of how TCP handles their dyno tune sessions. I called to get a quote on a dyno tune for my Camaro. I was instructed I would have to leave my Camaro with them for 4-5 days, $2K+/- in cost, and I wasn't allowed to be there for the dyno tune. But he would "try" and send me a video of it on the dyno when it was done. Umm that's a big NO!!

I built my Camaro, I would like to be there when it gets dyno tuned. Not just let them do as they wish with my property and just hope they send a video. What a MAJOR red flag that is! The main guy literally told me "No, you can't be back there when it's dynoed because that's not how we do things here!"

Well if you want a couple thousand dollars of mine for dyno/tune time, then I need to be there when some other man is going to be flogging my setup. Not just "Oh hey trust us we are a BIG expensive shop" These behaviors and practices they do, is how techs wind up destroying a customers car on a joyous unrestricted "test drive".

TLDR: TCP wants to keep my Camaro for 4/5 days unrestricted for a "Dyno Tune", and I am not allowed to be there when the dyno is being performed. And they want to charge thousands in the process.

I don't care who you are, how big your shop is, etc. These practices have always produced the rotten fruits of destroyed customer property. That winds up in the courts all because, they want to do as they please at expense of the very customer who pays their bills. Find somewhere else to take your Camaro to get dyno tuned, TCP exhibits dangerous/shady methods of practice that could cost you bigtime.

Depends on your idea of close I guess, it's nearly 500 miles to MI from me, so no, not an option.

Thanks for that insight on TCP. Where did you end up taking your car?

I read you have to pay upfront and then they will set the appointment up. Do I pay for my meat before I pick it out at Walmart. Not even so. I will never use TCP.
