Looking for Real Camaro Torque Converter Setups

Hey guys,

I'm working on putting together a real-world torque converter guide for Camaro owners and wanted to get feedback from people actually running them.

There’s a lot of information online, but not much based on actual owner setups and results.

I’ve installed converters in several 5th gen Camaros myself and even had to have one re-stalled to get it dialed in, so I know how much the right stall speed matters depending on the setup.

If you're running a converter, I’d appreciate hearing about your setup and how it's working.

If it’s easiest, you can just copy this and fill it out:

Year:
Engine:
Transmission:
Converter Brand:
Stall Speed:
Mods:
Tire:
60ft / 1/4 mile:
Street Driving:
Miles on Converter:
Would you recommend it?

If you want to add more detail, I'm also curious about a few things:

• Did the converter improve your launch or 60-foot time?
• What RPM does the converter actually flash to?
• How is it on the street and daily driving?
• Any heat, slipping, or drivability issues?
• Anything you wish you knew before buying one?

Even a little feedback helps.

The goal is to put together something that actually helps Camaro owners choose the right converter instead of guessing.

Hi Jason, great idea! Here’s my 2 cents:

Engine: 6.2L LT1
Transmission: ATI-built 8L90
Converter Brand: Circle D
Stall Speed: 2800
Mods: Whipple supercharger and built motor
Tire: 325/50/15 ET Street R
60ft / 1/4 mile: 1.39 / 9.1 @ 153
Street Driving: Occasional
Miles on Converter: <500
Would you recommend it? Yes

Thank GOD!! Although my experience is just road racing... the one time ever that I ran a 1/4mi with my car I did so on a set of Goodyear SC3Rs that were getting changed out the next day. My ZLE was fairly stock and new-to-me and the best 1/4 mile pass I got from the Darlington Dragway was a 10.67@127mph. I figured 10s was enough and never went back.

However... I am interested to learn if changing to converter will make a noticeable difference in the use I abuse this car for.
