This is pretty much the best you can do unless you are willing to completely butcher up the backside of the center console.

I did exactly the same, I cut the short edges and my Galaxy S22 fits and charges perfectly even with the case on. Now I am looking forward to receiving and using the Wireless Android Auto device!

By the way, the S10 is probably the best phone I ever owned.

Reviving an old thread here. Got an inexpensive adapter from Amazon and installed it into my car. It wouldn't complete the setup until I updated the firmware. Now it works perfectly. A little over $16 delivered. Also says it works with Apple Car Play.

Can you (or anyone else that saw this and has done it) be more specific about "these short edge cuts". I just got a 2023 2SS and my Samsung S24 Ultra doesn't charge on the pad.

I tried trimming that rubber plate but never got it to work. I just got a round inductive charger and plugged it into one of the USB ports inside the center console. With an Otterbox case, it doesn't slip off the charger.

I've tried and reviewed a lot of these adapters. Some of them just plain don't work; some of them work well for a couple of weeks, then start taking forever to connect or not connecting at all; and some of them work pretty well, nearly 100% of the time. If you get one that doesn't work well for you, just return it and get another one until you find one that works well for you.

bishopts showed you the cuts, that's exactly what you need, but here is a photo of my pad as well. Make the same cut along the other short edge, too.

By the way, I recently bought an S23 and it fits, leaving an extra mm or two on each side even with the phone in a rubber case. Charging with the new (2019) upgraded wireless module is flawless, I get around 8-10% per hour while heavily using Android Auto. Win/win.

Off topic, but the radio in the S23 is an absolute pile, 8-10 dB less signal strength than the S21 in the exact same locations. I will upgrade to the supposedly improved S25 as soon as it drops into my price range, which is up to $199.99 . Oh, and that phone will fit the trimmed pad as well.

I'm wary with the firmware update on those devices. I had a CarLinkit 3.0 unit that worked flawlessly in my 2016, until I tried firmware updating it to get rid of some audio lag.

There's a setting in Android Auto for autoplaying media upon connecting to the car, see screenshot below. You should be able to turn that off on your phone.

(The Android Auto app on the phone is hidden for some weird reason, I access its settings via Apps > Android Auto > Configure in Android Auto, the last option at the bottom of the screen.)

That's just the rubber mat (cover) for the actual wireless charger in the 2SS. It isn't attached to the console and lifts up with just two fingers or a plastic trim tool.

I did upgrade the original charging module in 2019 when GM came out with a new unit with more power and better compatibility from a different supplier, zero problems since then.
