Consider a Wix filter. Been using them for many years, the best.

I've been using the EA15K50 for years with no issues, for the same reason, ie its much better filtration capability. It also has a nice grippy surface on the outside, very easy to spin off and on even with oily gloves.
The incessant revisions to the PF64 don't inspire much confidence in me either, I'm afraid GM aren't exactéy doing it because they want to make that filter better and better.

I tried to research this but nothing looked different: What's the difference between the EA15K50-EA and the non -EA (EA15K50) ?

It's the same thing. Maybe some aspect of their internal coding differs from the customer facing part number.

I use the WIX which are manufactured by Mann & Hummel.
I’m putting together the parts list for my next project: installing a Frantz bypass oil filter to filter down to 2 microns. The plan is to install a Mishimoto sandwich adapter at the OEM oil filter location and tap a 1/4" supply line from the adapter to feed the Frantz filter. The filtered oil will then return through the oil fill cap. I currently have a clean-side oil separator from Tracy Lewis, but I’ll need to repurpose that separator for the oil return line from the Frantz filter. Because of that, I’ll be adding another catch can — a Mann & Hummel ProVent 100 v2 — to handle the crankcase ventilation between the valve covers and the existing air intake nipple. It should be an interesting project. Once everything is complete and I have some results, I’ll post a full write-up in the DIY section. |

I would recommend against using the Mishimoto Sandwich filter adapter for an oil cooler. I will say I have ZERO experience with the V6 platform, but if its like the LT4, the sandwich adaptor can lead to bypass issues at higher RPM. I have several customers who bought that system only to have massive cooling issues when at the track. Around town driving with low RPM sustained use, it works fine, but in a track environment, it miserably fails. Also understand their heat exchanger was designed to flow Glycol based coolants, not oil... so the flow rates are also an issue and have been known to cause starvation at high RPM again in the LT4s leading to a bypass. |

The spacer is designed to provide ports for measuring oil pressure or temperature, or, as in my case, to route a small portion of the oil (about 5% flow) to a secondary filter, such as a Frantz bypass oil filter. |

I use the Mobil 1 113 and have no issues.
