I honestly don't think you have driven your car as hard as it can be driven. That's why you think it's not that fast.

Can't find anything appealing at all or resonates with me in any way. Are other 6th gen owners feeling the same way? I feel like I'm going to keep this thing forever.

I will say this: 1974- 1986 were a low point for this segment too. In the darkest of days they were making Camaros with only 114 horsepower.

But somehow the passion returned and by 2009 we had bone stock 300HP V6 Camaros on the lots.

There was really no rhyme or reason behind it. Other than Ford went back to the original styling of the Mustang and it was such a sales hit that Chevrolet was convinced to bring back the Camaro.

It's not like gas was cheap in that time frame.

All we can do is wait for automakers to build cars that get people excited again.

I’ve tracked it 10 times. I LOVE it on track but I can’t afford to go every weekend. I only like the car on track and in an ideal world, I’d keep it as a track only car while having a “fun car” for the road.

It feels amazing on curves but 1) I don’t have any near me. 2) you’d have to be insane to drive this car at its limits on a public road. I’m not trying to go 60+ around a blind turn. It doesn’t feel lively at 50% if you know what I mean.

Since I have a 1LE, it’s setup and damped differently than the SS. GM set it up for 650 HP but only gave it 455. It’s going to “feel” slower because of that. I know it’s not actually slow. I miss my SS due to this. It was more fun on public roads since the car is technically “worse”. The 1LE is too well setup for fun off track. I’ll always believe GM missed an opportunity to make the perfect car by not giving the SS 1LE a HP bump. They used to have the LT 535 crate engine. The car would have been PERFECT with that engine.

Last thing, you get used to what you have. I am just someone that likes to “chase horsepower” unfortunately. I know folks have told me I’ll never be satisfied if I keep chasing power but I’m also not satisfied with a car traps 115ish mph in the quarter.

This is a great point. I’m just scared because times are different and things have gotten so expensive. Everyone says the Mustang is too expensive but honestly it’s right in line with pricing for everything else.

Supra costs more
The new Z has insane discounts since no one is buying it. Mustang is priced between them since the discounts aren’t as good as the Z.
I can’t think of any other cars that compete in this segment which is a shame.

What if you did like i did. When i sold my supra i bought a 4runner. Then shorty after got really into rock crawling. It was a really fun change of pace and i actually learned a lot about frames and suspension geometry, along with benefits and drawbacks of independent front suspension vs straight axle, short arm vs long arm axle links. You could pick up an old xj jeep for pretty much nothing. If anything you would have options to chose from to drive each day.

Here's another way to look at it:

315HP on the base Mustang is kinda meh. Nobody's going to get excited about that. You'd be avoiding stop lights all day.

They can't give those things away.

But 315HP on a compact SUV with AWD is something else entirely. Now you've hit a sweet spot for price/performance/utility.

The Z suffers because of it's out of touch styling and it's Japanese instead of a domestic legacy brand.

I sold my Porsche Cayman GTS and went to a Camaro ZLE.
I figured they aren’t making American muscle like this anymore!

I’m in this boat and it’s a good problem to have because then I just give up easily and say… I don’t need to do anything at this moment.

My spiral in order:
G80 M3 Base (Pre LCI) - if I trade in.
X7 M50i - if I trade in.
Cayenne GTS (18) - if I trade in.
Tesla Model S/X Plaid - if I trade in.

Non trade in list is boring but
QX80 (17-18)
X7 40i.

Car barely gets driven anymore since the family has grown and even when I do use it, just so much simpler to hop in the wife’s car and just go. I think the passion may be leaving the building, who knows.

All this talk about the 7th gen has me interested. I like the CT4V Blackwing so if they can give us a new version of that with a V8, i would be in for one.
