I will chime in here because I feel the 37K total miles on my ZLE, the 14,633 miles on track will give me a good perspective of what works well for a 750+whp street/track driven car when it comes to tires.
As the OP stated, he is not into tracking the car which dives into both a performance and all season tire for his region. I have tried multiple sets of the Michelin PS4S tires in both the OEM BMW/Porsche variety which are a four compound design for heavier cars and the three compound versions. Their high price and dramatic fall-off of performance after half the tread is gone has lead me to seek elsewhere for both a street tire and a backup "rain tire" when at the track and conditions become wet. I tested the Kumho PS91 a year ago and while they are possibly a carbon-copy of the PS4S OEM design, their price was nearly $100/tire cheaper. Unfortunately, they did not make this tire in the proper ZLE rear fitment, so I just bought the front two as a test (running the 9Lives front splitter on the street corded my PS4S in less than 250 miles on a roadtrip! Dumb Mistake!). The Kumhos offered every bit of stability, grip and less road noise than the Michelins and even proved themselves in freezing icy road conditions while running the Cherohala Skyway route through the mountains. My final test and where I will park my hat is the Continental Extreme Contact 02s! These have been the most incredible street and rain tire I have ever experienced with the ZLE! The grip is amazing, instilling so much confidence that I was able to drive my car in a downpour at Road Atlanta, speeds exceeding 140mph and running sub-2-minute lap times!! With nothing more than spinning the front struts from Track to street alignment settings and embarking upon a 1600 mile Thanksgiving Roadtrip from SC to southern Florida and back, noted zero affected tire wear from the trip. Over the past four months with these tires, there has been no degradation in their wear as evidenced by their "DW" markings which denotes the level of "DRY & WET" performance wear. While commuting to Charleston from Florence SC last month six times, a 260 mile round trip... I drove the ZLE as it offers better fuel economy/fun than my 2021 Ram 3500 dually. When attempting to put down the 830 lb/ft of torque, these tire manage it with perfectly straight traction when rolling into the throttle and zero bad manners. *No Animals were injured during these independent tests... although a few may have been startled or scared away! |

My main problem with the Contis is they don't make them in the sizes I want... it is offered in ZL1 1LE sizes for its 19" wheels, but the 20" selection is lacking.
