Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02. Not cheap, but they're the best for what you described here.

The PS4S has very low tire noise when new, and although it gets worse as the tread wears off, it'll never be loud. The ECS 02 is cheaper and is widely said to have very similar qualities, so I'm sure they will work well even though I don't have personal experience with this specific Continental model.

Not sure if you're referring to the OEM Supercar 3s that come on the ZL1, but mine do not have road noise and they grip just fine when the temps are in the optimal range for that tire...I have no problem with the SC3'S and will most definitely buy them again when the time comes to replace them. I don't daily mine and dont drive it in cold temps or damp/wet conditions. Those that do definitely probably want something more "all season" for sure, which I can understand, but for me and how/when I drive, it'll be Supercar 3s all the time(as long as they make them)..

yes those are the one'swell maybe its the roads up here in upper northern michigan but they are a noisy tire like i said i don't track the car so a smoother quieter tire would be nice.

I have the Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 and enjoy them. Zero issues and ride very well.

If you run the car into the cooler temps, look at the Conti DWS06+. They are a UHP All Season, but if you just DD it, they are good to go. Since they are a AS, you get a much wider usable temp range, along with a softer side wall and reduced road noise.

I'm in New England and I have run them on my C7, 911S, and now my ZL1.

PS4S all the way! SC3's are good, but has softer rubber and wont last.

Ohh..I don't know about that...my ZL1 will be 4 years old in September..and there's 3/4 tread left.....granted it doesn't get driven from November to end of May each year(winter storage)and it's not a daily...oh...and I only have 1,070 miles on it......I'd say they're lasting really well! ..

Feeling like a broken record, but I have to point out that there is the Nitto 555 G2 and the Nitto 555 R2 (or RII as the manufacturer dubbed it), and the difference between them is night and day.
  • The G2 is a mediocre, cheap summer tire that doesn't do anything particularly well, unsuitable for a high horsepower RWD car
  • The RII is a street legal drag radial that grips extremely well in dry weather, even at very high horsepower levels
Apples and (yellowish, not particularly appealing) oranges.

By the way, TireRack has been very enthusiastic recently about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 as well as the Kumho Ecsta Sport S, these are newer contenders that may be worth a look as well.

They both seem to be PS4S ripoffs, pardon, inspired, especially the Goodyears that reflect the compound distribution of the PS4S inside out, but then again that's what Michelin deserves for sitting on their laurels for almost 8 years and then releasing a successor that isn't a real successor except in terms of tire noise.

Unfortunately, the Goodyears aren't available in any normal sizes we need, but the Kumho comes in stock SS and SS 1LE sizes, and it's pretty cheap compared to the competition.
