Stage FOUR upgrades in PROGRESS

Well it has been several years since I posted anything on CAMARO6. During that time I have had alot of fun road racing a highly modded 2019 SS which I had a high HP NA engine in. I am VERY hard on equipment however and I managed to BREAK a LUNATI forged crank at EAGLES CANYON.

There is a highly detailed build post on that car from a couple of years ago that details out all the mods on this car but suffice to say, I used what I felt at the time were bullitt proof parts. If you have any interest just do a search under my user name SR71BB.

Anyhow this is the SECOND crankshaft I have manage to break with the FIRST one being on my 2010 CAMARO that I used as a daily driver with a F1A procharger on it that made at the time about 980RWHP.

Running a full slick setup with improved brake and suspension components in TRACK mode proved to be too much for the crankshaft on my 2019 over a period of time. The car had a very well built LME engine and was prepared by AMP.

FAST forward to now, I wanted to go back to a SUPERCHARGER setup so I ordered an LT4 longblock and I am having AMP do a stage 4 upgrade on that LT4 base which should result in about a 750-800 RWHP.

A modded LT4 blower setup can make over 1000 RWHP but really I have come to believe in doing some research that anything over 800HP is probably not needed especially with street tires.

Some of the more TRICK parts on this setup will be a very large HEAT EXCHANGER, one off ported heads and blower along with ported throttle body. I intend to occassionally do some track events but at a pace of maybe one event per month instead of the typical 2-3 events I was doing. Also I will limit myself to 10-15 minutes of hard driving per session instead of my typical ALL OUT for 30 minutes mode (LOL).

I will post up dyno results once it is all done and I have logged about 500 miles on the car beforehand.

keep us updated. my buddy had a 427 built for 1000hp, but he pully'ed it down to 700hp, and it was OUTRAGEOUS on the street.

he was selling it, and I was really worried about longevity at those power levels, so I did not buy it

i have a buddy who "does 100mph every day".... that is hard on eqpt!!

I find my power level for the street is more than enough, for me.

Looks great! Awesome progress! Like Gabe mentioned... fueling is for sure a biggie ! The Fore Triple pump is what I should of went with when I upgraded my ZL1 with port injections etc. Don't get me wrong, the Katech dual drop in fuel pump works awesome! But, I that was with my previous mods. My last round of modes, I needed even more fueling. So we added a DSX Aux Pump. I should of went with the Fore Triple the time before. I knew I was going to one last big mod, I just didn't think forward enough.

Test Drive Time

Ok well, I am picking up car from AMP today. For the next two weeks or so I will be putting some easy miles on the car before I take it back for DYNO tuning.

I will post up some PICS once I get her all cleaned up. Plan is to run around 12-14 pounds of boost. The heads have been modified with INCONEL exhaust valves and have been O-Ringed to maintain a good head gaskit seal.

Observations so far

OK well first day drive a couple of things that I noticed. One, this engine has GREAT oil pressure compared to what I am used to. COLD oil pressure is about 50 PSI and warmed up it still sees about 43-45 PSI. The compares to around 35-36 PSI on my previous setup.

Second, the idle is not as rough as my previous setup which makes sense as I had a very large cam and was running about 13.5 to 1 compression with that NA setup.

I noticed more super charger whine when compared to a basically stock 2019 ZL1 that I had because I am spinning the supercharger FASTER. The torque comes on INSTANTLY even though I am being very gentle on the throttle.

AMP has said the engine was set up to make 750 to 850 ft lbs of torque over a very broad RPM range which of course we will confirm in a couple of weeks after Break iN on a DYNO.

On a side note, we had talked some about going the MAGNUSON route instead of stock blower. MY assumption was that the MAGNUSON had much better cooling properties but in doing some real world research, I determined that, the cooling is only marginally better. Now had I wanted a 1000 or BETTER HP setup than I probably would have gone that route. AMP has had GREAT success with both setups and I didnt feel I could really use much more than 750 to 800HP on the street anyway. My opinion is the FACTORY solutions tend to be more reliable over time. Nobody can outspend GM on R&D and that THAT I believe typically results in better reliabilty

Mine has 1000+, and on a warm dry day on MT ET Street R 325/15, I can keep tire spin manageable through a 7000 rpm 4-5 shift by easing very very slowly to WOT with TC on. With TC off, forget about 4th and enjoy 5th.

Installed STOPLIGHT in Garage

OK so today, I installed a Garage Stoplight so that I wont constantly have to be worried about EXACTLY where the front end chin spoiler is in relation to my workbench that sits on the back wall of my garage. Here is a short YOUTUBE video below on how it works. You can pick up one of these at HOME DEPOT for about 32 dollars.

https://youtube.com/shorts/6ZGTmcandvo?feature=share

The picture below gives you a view on how everything is set up on my workbench. You can see the sensor that is below the light that gauges how close my bumper is and THAT's what controls the light. In this specific instance, the sensor will bounce an ultrasonic wave off my bumper bar.
