Service Theft Deterrent System - 2017 Camaro LT 3.6L M6

Please help, my Camaro Cluster will not function as normal. I’ve switched to my spare key fob, disconnected the battery for a day, charged the battery for a day (thebattery is 4 months old), and I’m at a loss of options other than buying a new cluster and hoping that fixes the issue. The problem comes and goes; now it's been stuck like this for 5 days, but on day 2 it went back to normal for a day or so. Very strange, not sure what to do or try. The car starts and drives normally, but I’ve been going back and forth to work all week, and I can't tell how much gas I have, which is very annoying. Please help.

Code from ODBII

B3980 - No Environment Identifier Received From Instrument Cluster

You need to look at the codes in the bcm, remote control door lock reciver, and the cluster. Generic code readers wont do that.

To explain. You could have a code loop. Your bcm could have a code saying "invalid serial data recived in the cluster" so then the cluster could end up saying the same thing about the bcm. When it all really comes down to the codes need to be cleared from each module.

Ideally you do a full scan of all the modules in the whole car. Take down on paper every code and what module they are in, then clear them all about 3 times.
Then start it and do a full scan to see what codes come back. If any

Also go have autozone test your battery. It's free and it will rule out a bad battery.
I know... i did read "its 4 months old" but batteries are shit. They can be bad from day one also. So rule it out by actually testing it.

Thanks for the input guys. Praying I fixed it. I learned the BCM is under my steering wheel and I got under there and pushed all the connectors in tight. It came back and is working for now.

Praying that’s all it was.

Good luck. It really can be that simple sometimes.
