I suck at social media. Installed the Anti-Gravity battery I got from Gabe and didn't take a single picture. :(

Looks like it was made for this. Super easy install. Thanks Gabe!

Today I put a sticker on my mobilistics relay. Some amazing form member made stickers so that the relay looks oem. The world needs more good people like that.

For those of you that have an AWE Track edition Cat-Back exhaust, I highly suggest you go check out
griffin-motorsports.com and get one of these pans for yourself.

I hate it when I load my pictures right, but, then when they finally get uploaded the 2nd pic is upside down

Installed. 10 mins. easy. didn't take her for a drive but did fire her up. I swear the exhaust note sounds different, healthy, but otherwise all is well.

Part 1

Okay, so I'm a day late, but for good reason. My wife has a nasty upper respiratory infection and has been coughing like a dying calf and has a low grade fever. She's been taking antibiotics and various over the counter decongestants and has been showing improvement. It did put a damper on our Valentine's day activities and dinner. So she gave me one of the best Valentine's day presents ever. Permission to work on my car! After finishing up with the car I did have to hang out an watch the Olympics with her, so this post is a day late.

I received a Mamo Motorsports V3 ported throttle body last week so it was time to try it out.

The installation was straight forward and was completed in about 15 minutes. I opted to disconnect the intake elbow at only the throttle body which made a bit of a tight work area but was doable. The tools required were a 1/4" drive ratchet with long extension, a 7mm socket for the intake elbow clamp, a 10mm socket for the throttle body bolts, and a 1/4" drive inch-pounds torque wrench for tightening the throttle body bolts. The throttle body cable plug was a bit of a bear. I couldn't get the grey plastic lock to move and ended up breaking it. The plug still clicks and holds tight so no big deal. It'll be easier to remove next time.

Once buttoned up, I started the car and it was idling a bit over 1000 RPM, which is not normal for my car when cold. Within two minutes it relearned the idle position and has behaved normally since.

You notice the improved throttle response immediately, just backing out of the driveway. The car feels easier to drive. Throttle response is more immediate. This thing really shines at part throttle just driving around town. The car feels smoother and less clunky, not that it was terrible to begin with, it just feels better. I did have an opportunity to do a no-lift-shift 1-2-3 and it may be pulling a little harder. It also seems to rev slightly faster but this could just be in my head.

One concern I had was what effect, if any, will this have on the throttle curve in the different driving modes. Turns out there is no effect. The throttle curves remain the same, you just have better throttle response across the board.

I have never been able to manually rev match this car with any real consistency and usually use active rev match. I now suspect part of the problem was the stock throttle body. Unfortunately, this didn't occur to me until after I got home so I didn't try to manually rev match yet. Just based on how the car feels now, I suspect that manually rev matching will be noticeably easier.

If you were on the fence about trying this throttle body, do it. It definitely improves the car in a way that you will notice every time you drive it.

Part 2

It warmed up yesterday for the first time in quite a while. I daily my car and it kills me when I can't wash it. After the throttle body installation and test drive, I was not going to waste a 46 deg. F day in February. I gave her a thorough interior/exterior cleaning/washing. Thank goodness I put a fresh coat of wax on in early November. This made the clean up easy work. I was a bit concerned about the amount of brake dust on the wheels but they cleaned up nicely as well. Of course they are forecasting a dusting to 1" of snow overnight so I'm sure the roads will be a salty mess tomorrow. I may just take an uber to work tomorrow. It'll be worth it. I'd like to thank my wife again for allowing me to spend Valentine's day working on my car. She's the best!

Val,

I special ordered one without the throttle plate engraving. My car is still under warranty and I don't want to give the dealer any reason to deny warranty coverage. I went for the stealth look.
