Tagged for what's wrong with the Solar TB, I've had both. I got the TM one after I got the car, and it cured the throttle tip-in that was driving me nuts. Then Solar came out with their product, and I got wrapped up in the hype and purchased it. I sold the TM in the classifieds. Honestly, they both addressed the inconsistent throttle tip-in and performed better than the OEM piece. Nothing really stands out between them enough to justify spending another $400.

Received the TB today. Quick service. Ordered Thursday, shipped Friday, arrived in Texas yesterday, and I got it today. I'll have it on in the next day or two and will report on my impressions.

I got mine today. If you need a step by step install guide i put one in the v8 performance parts section. Took me about 7 mins while talking pictures. I would guess you could have it done in 4.

I installed the TB Monday night and had some time yesterday to drive it. Temps in the 50s. Idle sounds smoother and the NPP muffler sounds a bit different. Smooth acceleration from idle, quick pickup at any speed, and the butt dyno thinks it's a bit stronger. It's easy to get the traction control involved. Very glad I did this mod!

I noticed my exhaust sounds kinda different too. I can't quite describe it other than different.

Its a very smooth feel when leaving a stoplight, I'm still getting the feel for it but going to work yesterday i make a long left turn from a light that is slightly uphill. I left the line and as my rear tires cleared the line i layed into it and got the tires spinning, got it sideways going into the road and countersteered keeping it going with the throttle. My boss was actually impressed.

Off throttle decel transistions slightly different but nothing too crazy.

Also on the way to work i did a 50 to 100mph pull and noticed that it seems better at higher rpms vs before. There used to be a feeling that the pull was kinda leveling off just before i needed to shift but now it just seems to pull hard up to the next gear.

For the most part it seems responsive like how a drive by cable throttle feels.

I'm happy with my purchase.

Guys,

Thanks for all the feedback.....keep it coming.

For those questioning whether there is more power don't....there most definitely is.

Your throttle body (the first restriction in the airflow pipeline) is flowing 23% more air and at a much higher rate of discharge (alot more air speed).

Power is up.....torque is up.....the immediacy in the throttle is up.....overall engine responsiveness is greatly improved.....tip in throttle is much stronger and in most cases idle and general engine dynamics are a little smoother as well.

My TB is not just an upgrade.....its more of a FIX of a really poor OEM design.

That TB was originally designed over a decade plus ago for low output trucks.....and even in that application it was a really poor design. It's just a BAD design in its OEM configuration. Those that have removed there OEM unit and compared it to what I sent them can see the internal housing bore looks completely different now.....a radical departure from stock and you can easily feel that as soon as you pull out of the driveway.

Best bang for the buck upgrade on the planet for any LT powered vehicle because its more than an upgrade....its a FIX for a really poor GM design that should have never gotten the nod to go to production.

As a business owner that markets a solution for the problem that's obviously good.....as a personal fan of GM engines its a big disappointment.

Buy one guys....for those that already have you can understand why I would not flinch offering a money back guarantee. You would have to be bat sheet crazy to send it back to me.....LOL

Also if any of you guys are big on IG or FB and could post your review and thoughts about this product I would be indebted to you. I just don't have the time to properly market my products on social media.

When I do I usually stick to the forums as I like the fact it's almost catalogued and searchable but I know that social media has a bigger draw these days than the forums which is unfortunate IMO.

Anyway....any help with that would be GREATLY appreciated....it's the best way to thank me for the time we invested in designing this (and other) products we bring to market

Happy New Year to all

Cheers,
Tony

Got mine last night, very nice machine work. I will not be able to try it for several months yet. Won't replace it till I drive her with stock TB. I do not recall the stumble some are having off the line, nor a rough idle. Could GM have addressed this in the 24 models? But I'd like you to elaborate on the problems you have experienced so I know what to feel for. Thanks.

I'm not sure anyone has a problem with rough idle. Anytime you replace a throttle body it will need to relearn its idle. There isn't necessarily a stumble off the line, its more like the time from when you press the gas to the time the engine is actually doing something is too delayed. You will press the gas and hear the engine kinda gulp and then feel it in your seat as you start to move. The new one kinda buffers all of that motion. You will press the gas and instantly feel it in your seat. Its like replacing stairs with a ramp. The last thing is the throttle plate bar is machined down so that it wont be in the way as much. The bar the throttle plate mounts to can cause turbulence in the throttle body which slows air down, which works against responsiveness and high volume needs.

My replacement was so long ago that the deep details are lost on me. I don't recall that there was anything I felt was "wrong" or deficient in the original setup. I do recall though that my biggest revelation was that whether from a pull or a roll, the car was clearly more responsive to pedal pressure.

The relearning of the idle, what does that involve? The Holley with dual pumps was way easy.
