I really want to get rid of all the VCM valve train hardware, actuators, lifters, and internals. I know since my car is a 6 speed the VCM is not enabled in the software but since all LT1s have that junk in them manuals and automatics, frankly I’m a little paranoid. This is my forever sports car and I don’t need lifter issues later in life.

What’s a reliable cam and litter upgrade? I wouldn’t mind a little extra lope for a more old-school sound (say old school 396) but it doesn’t have to be too aggressive.

SDPC 218/227 .570 .570 114 cam and their recommended spring / lifter setup.

Or the BTR 220 cam kit if you want a little more aggressive.

I was wondering if the stock 6.6 cam would work with stock non dod lifters the other day. Visually the block is a cast iron LT1 with the VLOM towers not drilled out. Have you ever heard anything about that?

Yeah I am pretty sure it works but it's smaller than the LT1/L86 6.2 cam.
