2. yes, you might not like it -Warm see #4 3. Yes M7G - sold ZL1 - long story 4. Warm, no crowds, decent people, enough to do, close to more to do...Pick a place like Southern Central Georgia and west or Southern Central Alabama and east. It is great down there with good hot weather, mild winters and great people. No particular town, you would just need to look up your price range and area of interest. Close to a lot of fun areas. EDIT: how are you with mobs of people, heavy traffic, long lines etc... if ok with that hands down Florida. But the storms and insurance can be bad. That is why I like #4 for your case after re-reading the OP. EDIT EDIT: #4 can have brutal humid summers, how are you with that?

Another option would be the las vegas area.
anybody live around there and how do you like it? would want to be in a suburb or outside the city of vegas. boulder city, lake las vegas, summerlin, are a few that show up when googling. think the vegas area is better than the oro valley arizona area? would be more to do if wanted to drive into vegas i have only been to vegas once and quite a few years ago, was fun then. |

We’ve been vacationing in Tennessee the last few years. Did the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge thing and love the area. Any other good towns in Tennessee to retire to?

In Texas the Hill Country is dry (low humidity) winter or summer. Constant breeze make summer evenings great and few bugs. The highland lakes chain offer lots of options anywhere west of Austin. Lake LBJ has a classic golf/tennis vibe. Also Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Bandera all have their different styles.

yeah I kinda looked at the texas hill country once, those floods make me kinda hesitant though. looks like they occur every so often.
so far oro valley arizona is still top of the list, they have some nice new houses there too, some are multi million, so must be some money there and it is rated the safest city in arizona. |

Anybody live or been to the St. George Utah area?
read and watched that it is a popular location lately, lots of new houses. not sure on it though being in utah. similar weather to oro valley arizona i think, gets hot in summer time. dry. Edit: after doing a little googling on it and reading some reddit not too sure about st george, people say it is heavily mormon, lots of older people, possible water issues, windy, hot, etc. Last edited by Mark20242SS; 01-09-2026 at 12:20 PM. |

I agree with Texas Hill Country for retirement but fair warning, parts of west central Texas get 'cedar fever' four to five months in the winter. Pollen count is stupid high and even people without allergy symptoms feel it.
Today's pollen count is around a ten and expecting higher tomorrow.👎
