1508027]Arpad-m knows me pretty well. My powertrain is indeed stock right now.[COMMENT] I cannot drag race that well anymore if at all because of a work injury that left my left leg with nerve damage hard to launch a car[/QUOTE]

Brother I feel your pain! My back gave up a while back and resulted in nerve damage and a nearly dead left leg- can't lift those toes anymore with loss of strength and balance. Had to give up my motorcycle after 55years of riding and loving every minute. Fortunately, can still shift the car (so far). Just wanted to get it out there if you get a backache that is followed by nerve pain you can track all the way down your leg, RUN to your doc. and get it checked. The internet will tell you sciatic pain just needs to be rested for 2 weeks 99% of the time. LOL- I guess this is my one shot at being a "one percenter".
+1 for the OE battery but I'm intrigued by arpad_m's mention of "in hindsight there is a high reserve (HR) variant that might be even better."
Not sure what he's referencing but I know better than to ignore his consistently good advice. Of course you're aware a trickle charger is cheap insurance to get all the life your battery can provide.

I have the Michelins on my car and love them. I don't do any racing, but they stick to the road really well and are great in the rain.

Thanks, brother

I purchased the ACDelco Gold 48AGM (part number 88864541), same as the one the car came with and it's great, but as it turns out, for only $5-10 more one can get an ACDelco Gold 48AGMHR (part number 88866268) high reserve model that can provide accessory power much longer before its voltage drops to a level that it will have trouble starting the car.

Not a big difference to me, I'm typically only unable to drive the car in late January, early February for 3-4 weeks each year, and I'm fine with hooking up in the trickle charger during these weeks. The price difference is so small, however, that I'll probably try the HR variant next time I need a new battery, if it's still manufactured at that point, of course.
