Well it lasted a long time

but the battery is showing that it is about go. I tried doing a search but I guess the search isn't working because all it does is show every thread from off topic section of the forums which had nothing to do with a battery.

My Camaro currently has 12600 miles on it was built in late 2019 and the battery is still the same one it came with from the factory since I got the car new. Past three weeks I wasn't able to drive it due situation outside of my control. Today when I started it to go to a doctors appointment it didn't start until the third try. Leaving the Doctors it started on the first try but I could tell it struggled a bit doctors was only five miles away. It did not have an issue before it sat for three weeks. I drove it around an extra 10 miles and everything works fine no other issues. I did not have a chance to get it battery tested yet but seeing as the battery is six years old it is something I need to consider. I will have it battery tested tomorrow. I am thinking of just getting the same battery it came with since it lasted longer than the average 3-5 year lifecycle but wanted to see what you guys thought and recommendations were on batteries.

Also sorry to hit you guys with two questions in one thread but tire wise over the stock run flats that came on my LT1 would you guys go Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus or Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 I searched on this topic a little outside these forums and I am still having a tough decision on which one. Both options are going to out do my stock tires in every category so either way they won't be as crappy as the stock ones.

EDIT: Also Mods I no longer have access to see or post in specific threads like Engine tires or threads like that not sure if I did something on my end or what. I can only see these general forums, off topic and Members area forums.

I replaced my battery at 4.5 years with the exact same ACDelco AGM model, and it's been working very well. The old one from 2018 tested at 440 CCA compared to the 760 in its spec when I began seeing it struggle a bit and decided to retire it, but it never failed to crank and didn't cause spurious codes either.

I'm not a fan of all-season tires per se, but those Contis are good and so are the Michelins. They're both head and shoulders above the stock runflats, you'll love the lack of tire noise and actually having some wet traction. However, unless you want to drive the car in sub-35-36 degree weather and/or in the snow, I'd consider the Michelin PS4S or the Conti ECS 02 summer tires, they're the best three-season all-rounders.

I would say go with the original battery but have them bench test it before you walk out the door with it.

I was planning on going with nitto nt555. A friend runs them on his ws6 and likes them enough to recommend them.

I just put the Conti DWS Plus on my 1LE and they rock! I was swapping back and forth between the Michelin 4S's and Bridgestone RE980AS (spare rims) for colder weather and have now sold off spare rims and am going full time with the OEM rims and DWS.

As far as the battery the stock Delco is a good choice, whatever you get it needs an external vent due to the location, this is a good price on the OEM battery.

For the battery, I would definitely get it tested. Be sure they are able to test AGM batteries with their equipment or it might not give accurate results. Also, if you're able to keep the battery on a tender, it can help extend the life considerably. I bought my 2020 new after it had sat on the dealer lot for 9 months. I had to replace the battery in it within the first year and have had zero issues since (a combo of driving it and keeping it on a tender) and have similar miles on mine.

With regard to the forums - I see the same thing. I'm wondering if something has changed or someone maybe mis-clicked something?

definitely get it tested in the store, before you leave.

went to buy a new battery last week at O'reillys, $154, and it was DOA.
guy grabbed another battery and it tested fine.

it would SUCK to have to change out the battery so soon.

your battery lived a long happy life, kiss it good bye & buy the same brand!!

This is the one I got as well, but in hindsight there is a high reserve (HR) variant that might be even better.

I just got the battery tested today my dealer I trust did it for free and it was showing a little over 500 CCA out of the 700 it originally had so it was surprisingly still ok it was just low so it needs to be driven a long while to charge or hooked up. That is the good news the bad news is my battery maintainer and charger died so I need a new one of those. So yeah I am definitely going with the one it came with like you guys recommended. Thank you Warrior for the link. I will probably have it replaced sometime in the coming year.

Seems like the consensus is here is most of you like the Conti DWS.

I love my DWS06+'s as well. Quieter, smoother, more comfortable, and great traction in all types of weather. I drive year round in Wisconsin (although I can work from home if it's bad enough). I drove in the worst rain storm I've ever been in, in Georgia a couple of years ago on a trip to Florida. I've tested the tires in snow in a parking lot. Combined with this car's traction control, these tires never cease to amaze me.

I'm just going to reiterate what several have already said about the dsw06, phenomenal tire. I did upgrade to the 1LE Wheels from my factory 2ss wheels, so much wider tire then the factory run flats I had on here before. Can definitely tell a difference in grip in all weather but with the wider tires I still have the grip during the summer time or most of the grip during the summer time that I had with the factory Goodyears, at least for how I push the car which is mostly just road driving. It is significantly quieter and a much smoother ride. In my opinion, it is definitely worth it.

i have the NT555 on my car 315/30R20 and 275/35R20 on front they are decent tires but are horrible when temps drop below 60

"Nitto NT555" can mean the both the G2 or the R-II, which are vastly different:
  • The NT555 G2 is a relatively mediocre summer-only tire that I would never choose over the Michelin PS4S or the Conti ECS 02.
  • The NT555R-II is a drag radial tire that is definitely not recommended for any other weather than 70+ degrees and dry pavement. Sure, it has better dry traction than any of the "normal" street tires, but those tires can do everything else, too (except snow of course), including safe operation at much lower temperatures and roads puddled up from a sudden downpour.
As to the question OP raised for his Camaro using the stock powertrain, I still wholeheartedly recommend these "normal" street tires, especially after switching to SS or ZL1 sizes. There is almost nothing to gain from a drag radial at the stock (aka low) power level, but a lot to lose when conditions aren't ideal.

Arpad-m knows me pretty well. My powertrain is indeed stock right now. I cannot drag race that well anymore if at all because of a work injury that left my left leg with nerve damage hard to launch a car and is also why my car is a 10 speed instead of a manual. (I do miss the manual but my car is still fun) Basically what I do with my car is take it to where I need to go like appointments etc and for fun I take it on curvy twisty roads and have even done some autocrosses with it. While it is not driven with snow or salt on the road when the roads are clear it is my primary so I do need to be able to drive it in below 32 degrees so it is why I am looking for all season performance tires. After I replace the battery despite it still being ok at a little over 500 CCA. I do want to have more fun with the car and eventually take it to tail of the dragon.

Maybe down the road I might modify the car and bring it up from the stock 455 hp too.

Nothing better than those Michelins. I have had both the Michelins on a 6th gen and those Nitto's you are looking at (on a 4th gen I used to own). Those 555 might do better on a dragstrip - I think they have basically the drag radial tread with a little stiffer compound - but Michelin is the king for everyday driving.
