tb and super charger

Im sure this is posted some where but need opinions. I have a 95mm tb, will I see much of a performance gain if I do a kong port or katech and leaving the 95mm? Or will it force me to get a 103tb and a 103 snout? If I do upgrade the tb any opinions on the katech vs nick williams?

This is not a recommendation, but all I'm going to say is I'm running a ported 87mm OEM size TB (91mm is what it turns out to be) with all of the mods on my signature and I'm making the power I am.

You don't need a big one to make power. The throttle body is one of the last things you need on your journey for power. Hell I still run the OEM intake set up. Do what you will with that information and others may chime in and say differently, but keeping it closer to OEM size will work for the majority of folks on here and it will allow you to not have to sit there and retune for larger MAF tube ID area.

Depends on your power goals @PhilZL1. Same statement we make to everyone asking advice lol. But it’s that simple. Engines are air pumps first and foremost so it’s all about getting the air in. Getting the fuel in can be fun on this platform too though…

You CAN make good power on smaller TBs but you’re negatively affecting the supercharger’s efficiency to do so since the easier it is for your rotor packs to fill with air, the higher the blower efficiency and more boost you can make at the same pulley combo. This is literally why blower porting helps… you’re allowing the rotor pack to fill with air so that it can be compressed. Any bottleneck before the rotor pack can have the same effect.

A 95mm TB can carry you for quite a while. I dropped mine for bigger units once I knew the goal was going to be 1K+ WHP. I’d probably change the 95mm for a 103mm if the goal is over 800-850 WHP. Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't mind being around 800 or a bit less. I want to keep it oem as much as possible. I dragrace the nhra series so the car is just to go out and have fun. Dont really care to take it to the track as I already see enough of that

I still have an unported OEM 87mm throttle body, bone stock SC with the stock upper pulley and its still ruthlessly fast on the road course and it can put down 800+lb/ft of torque, with a sound that is magical!!

What you need to decide is "WHAT are you going to do with the car..?"

Once you know that, then the plan becomes much easier.

Can you make power on a stock throttle body yes. Will it make more power with a larger throttle body yes. PD superchargers draw air through the intake and throttle body, so they respond well to reducing restriction. I would match the throttle body to the size of the inlet on the blower. X port will open it up so you will make the most power with a 103. Doesn't mean smaller won't work, you will simply be leaving some power on the table.

Different story if it's an NA engine, but PD's love less restriction.

If you do the X port and 2.3 pulley, you will see the best gains with a 5 inch intake and 103mm TB.

If you're going to port the blower but use the stock pulley, keep the 95mm TB.
