Tracking A10 ZlE
Hey guys, I just bought a 2019 ZLE A10 for a track only car. I have a 2022 ZL1 M6 non 1LE that I track and am very comfortable with the transmission. I have about 10 full track days, so i am still learning.
Does anyone have experiences tracking the A10, specifically are you running the auto shift or using the manual paddle shifting? After a couple of days in the car in Track / Sport 2 mode, running full auto seems to down shift and unsettle the car a bit, and I have some concerns on the track especially during trail braking. Now granted this is street driving, and the car is not getting anywhere close to the braking and acceleration forces found on the track, so it might behave differently. Also I have noticed the shift points change according to the Track Modes I am running, this makes sense. And I have not run the car much in Track / Race Mode yet. I do like the paddle shift function...shifting seems smoother. I am headed to Barber in mid January, and will likely figure all this out, but would love to hear from other members. And, an interesting note, when i track the 2022 M6, I open the Competitive Driving Modes Screen from Track, choose Sport 2, hit select on the steering wheel, then hold down the traction control button for 5 seconds until the Tract control and Stab Track buttons light on the dash. This is how i run on the track, whatever mode, it is...lol. I read somewhere that this is supposed to turn of all nannies, but that does not happen. The car accelerates out of turns with out loosing traction, even with hard throttle. The car does not loose traction, much, on the straits at full throttle. Not sure what mode i am in, but it works! Thanks! Chris Nashville, TN |

I have an A10 in an SS 1LE and I just let it in auto on track.
As far as PTM modes, here is a good read: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496996

Welcome to the Forum! I have logged over 14k miles ON THE TRACK with my ZLE A10 and there are a few things I can share with you about this car. With just over 36K total miles on my odometer, I have to share how much I love this car! Let's begin with the modes. On the street, I run it in SPORT mode with a Double-Tap which is pretty much the "Street Takeover" Mode. No nannies and be careful not to end up like a Mustang leaving a Cars & Coffee! When it rains... I put the car in TRACK Mode, double tap the TC button and use the Track/Rain mode for the most precise car control in wet conditions possible. I have run this car at Road Atlanta just a few weeks ago in pouring rain, 140+mph on the straights with full control of the car running a 2:01 lap time on Continental Extreme Contact 02s at 28psi. When I thought I could control it better than the car, because it felt like I was being held back, as I tried two laps in "Track/Dry" with still it raining and somewhat of a dry line on the track... I was 2-4 seconds slower. For getting to know your car on the track, I would suggest Track/Sport1... this will give you modest power coming off the corners, full power in a straight line and still give you the security of balancing the act. If you have PDR, it will show you spots its stepping in that you never felt happening. Do not use Track/Sport2. Simply said, everyone I have known to use this mode has wrecked their car because of something "Mustang-ish" happening, they reacted to and the car just aimed for the wall. What it really is, the yaw control takes a precedent over power and the car will go where you point it. Problem is, not many people have read their Performance Supplement and the part where it tells you to "Floor it going into the corner and let the advantages of PTM allow for a smooth corner exit"... the problem is, if you have not tested and learned how to embrace this, counter-steering as we have all trained to balance the slide, becomes relatively dangerous! I mainly use Track/Race to warm up my Goodyear SC3Rs and then later have long pressed TC to turn it all off. The rear tire wear goes up, but at the same time I am using this to get off the corners harder to keep up with Marco in his GT4RS. Send me a DM and I will offer you track support when we are at the track. Which event are you running at Barber in Jan? In 2025 we spent over 40 days on the track from VIR to Sebring and CMP to Barber. In 2026 we are running the full GridLife series, Pikes Peak, NASA & SCCA regional events. |

Have really enjoyed the A10 for autocross and road course letting the car do the shifting. For autocross, definitely do Track mode and turn off all the nannies (hold the button for >5-7seconds). Without doing this, it made it difficult rear-steering the car in and out of corners and getting max power out of a corner (sometimes it would cut power and gurgle when mashing the throttle). I like running Track mode in Sport 1 on the road course (I'm not good enough to running anything more aggressive yet). This mode let me hit the corners hard on my lines while feeling confident rolling into the throttle at the apex. With the ZLE, throttle management is important to keeping the car facing the direction you want it to around corners.
