I want mine to pull hard all the way to north of 7000.
I know you were...I guess I should make sure to use emoji since you probably don't realize that I am sarcastic in nature.

A 10 speed car doesn't need the power to carry to the moon when the shift extensions is 500rpm. I could see it for a manual car though.

Didn't Justin White test a bunch of cams and the BTR 1 made the most power?

Either way I am not against larger cams. It's all about the overall setup.

That is correct, it performed the best out of 8 cams he tested. I believe his personal best is around 1,200whp on the BTR Stage.1 on a rod and piston LT1 with ported 2650. Only now is he stepping up to a custom grind from Rick Crawford.

We will be re-doing his cam test in March... but doing even more combo testing. We are budgeting for an entire week, whereas he was limited to 1 day... more on that later!

Only issue with the BTR 1 in the cylinder pressure it creates isn't pump gas 93 friendly. Cam really needs ethanol to keep it happy. Justin even talked about how careful you had to be with the tuning window on pump 93. Cam makes great power as long as the fueling carries the octane for the cylinder pressure.

Yes, and this cylinder pressure equals TORQUE across a wider band when you delete the VVT function for the bonus of not worrying about the lifter failures and wringing the RPMs over 6500 cause A10 don't care on a road course.

Unless you detonate it till it knocks the rod bearings out of it due to the big squeeze coming through peak torque. Again, great cam with E85 fuel. Not a good cam on pump 93. What fuel y'all run in the cars on the road course?

Great news fellas... the motor is now assembled, double checked the XDI Goliath HPFP pre-load and max lift while we had easy access... No more mixing Ethanol for me!

Installed a fresh set of Brisk Silver RR12S spark plugs... Dressed it up a little for the builders photoshoot, and snapped a few myself before brining her home.

Now, just need to wait until Saturday for the Monster Triple S clutch installation, and then the motor! More progress photos to follow

Very excited to be able to run straight E, and see what a proper valve job, + BTR Stage.I is worth on the DYNO. I will be making no pulley changes. Just those small changes and a bottom end that should now be happy at 1,000rwhp vs. one that is counting down the days.

You need to get one of the photograph hard cover books so you always have your journey documented!!!! Hell, I'd even buy one (if you signed it!)! That would be an awesome thing to have, and add captions to each page and write your own story!

looking forward sharing driving impressions soon.
You officially have the Crown for the Most aftermarket parts on a single car.

Great job.

I may have missed it but what are the specs on the engine?

Very nice! The dial indicator is the way to go with the Goliath, for sure. That way, you KNOW you are good to go.

These pictures remind me of 4 things:
1) I need to clean my garage
2) I need to finish my build
3) I need a nice shop
4) I need to be independently wealthy so I can do 1-3.

The car is going to be awesome! Easily one of the coolest ZL1's around!

Congrats on the progress so far. Looking forward to seeing it all back together.

Who is still trying to make power on 93 octane in 2025? I would order E by the drum before I did that. I agree it boils down to how much power you are trying to make on the octane used. You are likely not going to make 1000 with it on 93. I do know of a A10 2650 car that runs that cam and it 60-130's mid 4's full weight on 20" forgelines with E70 fuel in non-hero air. So, I would say it is plenty of cam for 95% of the setups out there.

I have a few cars that I am building right now that are trying to keep their warranty, so all of the mods are focused upon quality 93oct or using Sunoco GT+ race fuel blended with the pump gas. The pump 93oct here has 10% ethanol per the sensor and test kit. This will give the detonation suppression needed to run flat out on the track without cracking into the ECU and leaving a sign of tampering to the dealer. The fuel is blending within the scope of the Oxygen sensors to where it will offer cooler running at the limits, suppress knock and will not damage the Cats at all. This is what I was using prior to actual tuning and on the dyno we were showing 30-40hp gains 600-615whp versus stock pulls on just 93oct. This was a short run as a 5-gal can was $85!!

All that work just to make 850 RWHP.

Dude I'm totally talking shit just to mess with you!

That sure is beautiful!

That's actually a REALLY cool idea! Commemorate the journey in a book. That way even when you can't or don't drive it, it's always accessible anywhere, anytime.
