Just kidding man- at least yours is making progress.
Honestly I think this is the best cam one can use for making the widest power band and best application of torque that is usable both on the street and track. Now the Drag Racers will focus on the dyno numbers and go big or go home... but the beauty of the Stage 1 is keeping that power in a usable area.

Its the same cam I would choose and I'm excited to see if we can get Gabe to bring this beast to the East for a track day!!

Yeah, but I'm a drag racer focusing on dyno numbers, ET's and mph. I couldn't care less about the road course, simply because I can't afford it!

So boring...
If they think the BTR stage 1 is boring then they'll definitely think mine is even more boring.

A couple things to Share.

I mean no disrespect to Katech when I share this but it needs to be known.

I would strongly recommend a 3 bolt conversion, The pins are very small on the LT cams and can shear off bending all the valves.

Katech cover does not work with 3 bolt gear or single bolt gear from GM, cam sensor reluctor is 2 teeth off from the Hole location.

I don't understand why, and I asked, but didn't get a reasonable answer.

Instead of moving the hole, They modify a single bolt gear by plugging the pin hole, then drilling another then, laser etching a new alignment dot 2 teeth over so you are forced to use a modified single bolt gear.

Any LS 3 bolt gear, or LS single bolt gear, work with TSP and LME front covers the cam sensor hole is in the right place for these gears which makes them more universal.

We attempted to use a 3 bolt gear with a katech cover which caused a Cam/Crank correlation code, that COST ME having to removing the engine from a Corvette to change the cover, it can't be done in the car.

Yes we degree every cam upon installation but that does not show the mismatch between the cover hole location and the cam reluctor teeth.

Ted.

Larger cam doesn't really make any more power until north of 7k rpm. Gen 5 stuff is efficient enough that you don't need a donkey dick stick to flow air efficiently.

I agree, that is a bit frustrating they dont make it more universal... I cannot imagine the frustration having to remove that engine a second time

I'm just joking around and giving Gabe a hard time. Donkey dick sticks rule.

He can put whatever cam in there he likes. BTR 1 would not have been my choice. I would have gone with a different set of valve events. Something more like the Terminator 2, a cam like Josh has, or the Katech cam I went with that carry the power better. The BTR dynos I have seen tend to fall off up top. Not what I was looking for. I want mine to pull hard all the way to north of 7000.

Could not agree more. If you wanted more power and RPM past 7K then I would have selected a different cam.

Sounds like the perfect time for a comprehensive head and cam package test where one would take 8-10 of the best cams on the market, along with a few other sets of heads, ported 1.7L + 2650, and see how each combo responds. One week of engine DYNO mayhem...

Hmmmm.

Good news, sounds like the engine will be delivered tonight...

Made some time last night to finish up the rear suspension upgrades by ditching the OEM stamped lower control arms in favor of the BMR coil-over specific versions. Just couldn't help myself while waiting for the engine upgrades.

looking forward sharing driving impressions soon.
