Steering, Exhaust, Stereo, etc. settings

Curious what others think are the best settings for the steering, exhaust, stereo settings?
I leave suspension on the mode selected setting. usually drive in tour and like the better ride with softer suspension setting.
have steering and exhaust set to sport. am going to try track settings on those and see how it feels and sounds. does sport and track sound about the same?
have stereo equalizer set to +2 on bass and treble and 0 on midrange and speakers centered.
i have not messed with the different color settings yet, it is set on blue and looks good to me.
any other cool settings i am missing?

I usually roll around in sport mode. I have never noticed a difference in sound between sport and track.

Unfortunately, having a 1SS without magnaride, I can't adjust the suspension with the mode button.

Having a manual I also cannot adjust the trans at all.

I just leave the button set to sport, which really only affects the steering and throttle response.

The exhaust is always in track, even though I don't think it's much different from sport.

i also shut off the automatic seat warmers, they had it set to on when i got it and kept wondering why they came on automatically lol.
i will run the heated seat and steering wheel for a few minutes when its cold then shut them off, gets too warm for me
& yeah i figured sport and track exhaust were going to be about the same, going to try track on way home today
oh also is there a certain mileage break in time for the LT1, 500 miles? like the corvette has. i am getting close to 500 miles. does it limit the revs?

Track I believe keeps the valves more open compared to Sport but neither keeps them open 24/7 (the fuse pull does).

There is a new vehicle break in starting on page 189 and continuing to 190

This is also in the 1LE track prep manual: https://www.camaro6.com/forums//atta...6&d=1719083365

I only change the exhaust to stay in Track, everything else I leave linked to the mode button. The exhaust in track is slightly louder for a slightly wider RPM range. Not super noticeable.

I like having the suspension linked to the mode button, as I can quickly soften the suspension if say a bump or some train tracks are coming up. Steering I like to keep with the suspension, as usually when I'm cruising I like to be in touring and have a lighter steering wheel. When I want to take corners I naturally also want the steering wheel to have a bit of weight.

Stereo settings I can't quite remember, I set them a while ago, lol.

Modes

Color me conventional, but I keep all drive mode settings (steering, suspension, engine sound) in Auto. (The one exception is the drag strip where I lock the suspension to Tour to help with the squat, leave the rest of the settings alone (in Auto) and switch the car to Track, where the throttle response curve is near linear.)

My main reason is that drive modes and their factory setup cover the majority of my preferences:
  • when I'm just cruising alone or with the missus, Tour is best with its lighter steering and more forgiving ride,
  • when I feel like playing a bit, the extra twitchiness of Sport is just perfect, the exhaust opens up just when I want it to,
  • when I want to be precise, like on our curvy mountain roads with about 2-3 inches of shoulder "wiggle room", Track is best with the linear throttle and heavier steering while the suspension lets me feel the road better, and
  • whenever my wife needs to use the car (rarely), she was advised to switch to Snow/Ice and leave the car in that mode, no exceptions
I also make full use of the excellent performance shift mode on the A8 to nudge the engine into and out of the powerband, depending on how I want to proceed. It activates and deactivates quickly on demand with the go pedal, and I don't mind that it auto-engages when taking corners fast enough.

All in all, I feel the factory drive modes are pretty well configured, they need little tweaking, but I'm also very glad that we can change at least these settings. Being able to store presets would be a cherry on top, but honestly I don't miss it that much.

Disclaimer: my car is non-stock and heavily tuned by Ted Jannetty, which may well contribute to the great experience I'm having with it.

Radio

As to the stereo, I'm not very happy with the Bose setup on my 2SS. I set the EQ to +1 bass, 0 mid, +1 treble, both left/right and front/rear balance neutral, so minimal changes away from the defaults. My main problem is that entire frequency bands in the midrange seem to be almost completely missing from the soundscape at lower volumes. I have to crank the volume up to well above 50% to even hear these frequencies. My hearing is fine, and our other cars (including a GM Traverse) don't exhibit the same issue, so it's the Bose in the Camaro, unfortunately.

For reference, here's GM's drive mode table with all settings and their configured values.

Steering is definitely tighter on Track vs Sport for me.

Agreed, track steering has a great feel. I was saying I can’t tell a difference in sport vs track exhaust.

Oh and I hate that when you turn the car off on track mode it goes to tour mode when you turn it back on!

Hmm, track mode steering is at least 2x stiffer than tour mode on mine.

Similarly kind of "flat" about not just the Bose stereo but also that GM didn't account for my car being a convertible with respect to the auto volume option.

First, the auto volume does not adjust enough with the top down. So, I either end up blasting everyone out of their cars at stop lights and in very slow moving traffic, or I can't hear anything above 40MPH.

Second, GM should have accounted for there being two different sets of adjustments - one that follows what the coupe gets and aligns to "top up" and another that steps the volumes more when the top is down.

As far as the sound in general, there's a very, very fine line between "I can't hear any bass" and it just being muddy. Bose is known for poorly reproducing lows and I have had systems in a few vehicles that are all basically rolling proof of that.
