Hey David, That was precisely why I wanted to jump in as I saw there was a miscommunication between one of our sales team (John) and yourself about whether we are in R&D on a new Camaro system. Every project, even ones that seem "easy" or straightforward need to be fully vetted, tested, and put through our R&D process internally at our headquarters. We don't skip steps so we can be proud of what we produce here, but that does mean these things take time and have to go through the proper channels. What I also want to be clear about is that I am not saying we are *never* coming out with another option, but the facts of the situation is that we are not in R&D on a new system for Camaro and it is not on the list at this current moment in time. Being able to show interest from actual members of the community (yourselves) through the new product request form is the fastest/easiest way to change that, but we will need to show significant interest to get a project approved. Not discounting the great setup you custom made from our components, it is certainly impressive, just trying to be clear about what is going on so we can be transparent with the community. I am sure you already know our Touring edition has 180 tech resonators to cancel drone, but your comments about volume I did want to dive deeper. Have tracks told you that even the Touring Edition is too loud for competiton? Does anyone feel the Touring Edition is too loud and are looking for another option with less volume? -Sara |

I just wanted to add that I was really hoping AWE would eventually offer an NPP-valved system for the Camaro. I know there are other brands out there with valved options, but I’ve always preferred the build quality and sound character AWE delivers. For many of us, being able to switch between loud and quiet isn’t just a preference, it’s essential. Here in Europe we even have to pass noise tests during inspections, and without a proper NPP-style system it becomes almost impossible to pass. On top of that, being able to switch to quiet mode is also really helpful in certain cities that enforce strict noise limits. Having the ability to go from a deep, aggressive tone to something tame on demand is a huge benefit. There definitely seems to be strong interest in the community for a true SwitchPath NPP setup, so I really hope this can get on AWE’s radar one day. Thanks again for staying transparent with us.

Hi Sara, yes, I feel the touring is too loud, and am looking for a NPP version of your exhaust. On this platform, once headers are added, any offering you or your competitors have, become too loud. Hence why there is a lot of interest in a valved version of your exhaust. Thanks, and I have already completed your online request.

I’ve been an AWE Touring owner of your resonated catback system pretty much from the day it came out for the 6th Gen Camaro. I’m still running it and loving it to this day… all the way from 400 WHP as a stock SS to 1066 WHP today. I will confirm what the fellas above said. Once I went to long tube headers the AWE Touring system (even with resonators) is BIBLICALLY LOUD! I’m self-conscious about driving it on the street. Anything over 30% throttle sounds like I’m qualifying at the strip against John Force… Don’t get me wrong, it sounds epic but there are times I’d love to be able to dial down the volume. My wife’s S550 Mustang GT has the Mach 1 Active Exhaust and it’s exactly what I’m talking about… hooligan when you want it, quiet rumble when that’s appropriate too. And I know AWE makes valved systems for the S550 too so Camaro owners should get the same choice. So Dave’s prototype using AWE components could definitely have legs as the best overall catback for this platform. Just my humble two cents as a long time AWE fan and owner on this car. Josh

As it stands, AWE may be one of the only mainstream exhausts available for the Camaro SS and ZL1 that does NOT have NPP integrated into it, as the other out of the big 3 being Corsa and Borla do. Not everyone likes the sound that they have, me partially being one of them. I have heard AWE on another Camaro and it sounds killer while removing that tinny sound that these engines have (most likely due to the large diameter/ thin wall that stainless exhaust piping has). The ONLY reason I have not made the switch is because NPP is not available as of right now on their exhaust system.
AWE, Chevy has restored offerings and interest in support for the 6 Camaro again, and the amount of ownership around is more than plenty. It would be an absolute sin for you guys not to offer exhaust for these cars in two different configurations, Touring and Switchpath. The work has been put in to make it real and it wouldn't take much further R&D to offer it commercially. Y'all need to make it happen seriously.

Agree completely, get a Cadillac 3" valve and weld it in. A caveman could do this.

Worth noting, the reason Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is not out yet is it has been taking longer in testing due to the vastly different valve behavior when compared to the valves Chevy uses and even the valve behavior in CT4-V. So cross compatibility between the valve styles is not straightforward even for the same ‘manufacturer’. We offer a lifetime warranty so what we make has to work now and well down the road and we use R&D to make something great and be sure it lasts. I hear you that this is something you want and encourage you to fill out the form if you haven't already, but I also want to be clear that we have never skimped on R&D and we won't start now. Quote:
but two things remain true, we need to show our NPD panel (via the form) that there is significant interest in a new option for Camaro in order to get approved to move ahead with R&D and we will follow our procedures for R&D as if it were any other project.

I would caution against going Corsa NPP...the valves they use are garbage. I replaced 3 sets and finally gave up and had Corsa send me some non NPP sport mufflers under warranty... Best decision I made. No more rattle can leaky high dollar bull shit!! Still plenty quiet on start-up, low throttle, and screams up top. If you don't mind rattling valves, then you will like it. You notice Dave said he upgraded the valves on his prototype deal...that is why!! I will say Corsa warranty and support is Top notch. So yeah, AWE needs to up their game and produce a quality NPP system with robust valves that seal properly and don't rattle after 500 miles of use.

Last email I got from David said:
"Just heard back from AWE and I wanted to share with you that we are making big steps to getting this exhaust system into full production!" So who knows.....maybe the sponsors on here aren't communicating with Dave? ![]() Quote:
And just to add, this statement alone just shows how AWE isn't paying attention to the Camaro community. This is always their response whenever a valved version is brought up. EVERYONE feels the Touring Edition is too loud after adding headers. Last edited by ZL1_1LE; 12-01-2025 at 11:18 AM. |
