So this coupled with a bigger 3.25” upper griptec should help reduce belt slip. Mike @ Katech warned me the belt selection on 10-rib isn’t great and not surprisingly, he was right. The belt I just ordered is probably going to be too short…guess we’ll find out.
Yes sir, happy to help!
I agree, the belt selection isa bit then for 10-rib... but luckily it is not hard to cut 2 ribs off a 12-rib belt (thats what I just did to get the tightest fit possible)... she is a beauty! I am confident the 12-rib will be helping you out!

I don't know how you guys stay sane up north, and now you're moving even further, oh well. There's only one more state to move to if you keep "creeping" north, then you'll be in Canada, which I'm sure is a non-starter... pardonnez-moi, ętre intenable

Kidding aside, I bet you'll enjoy transforming the new garage. Is it the same size or perhaps larger than your current one? I'd sure love to hear your plans and see some before and progress pics, exciting stuff.
Thanks! Necessity is the mother of invention haha

I actually was born in upstate VT, about 3 miles from the Canadian border…! So I’ll still be quite a ways from THAT far north lol.

New garage looks to have 10’ ceilings as well and although they call it an oversized 2 car garage, it has virtually the same square footage as my existing 3 car garage. So I think I’ll be fine, and besides, with 7.4 acres I suspect I can add another garage if my car addiction does not subside (or run out of money lol)!

Yeah that new belt is literally the perfect fit…! I had to pop off the blower pulley to get it on! So it’s good to know that it’s easy to cut down a 12-rib belt as that greatly improves our belt availability.

That said… a REAL 12-rib setup would be epic… hmmm….might be a project for this winter.

I upsized the blower pulley to 3.125” (from 2.85” where I was seeing belt slip) to match up the blower speed. Then the real fun happened as @Katech_Mike predicted. I couldn’t get a 10-rib belt to fit! I tried looking at a number of different belt manufacturers but it seems like there’s an absolute black hole in the 91” range where I needed to be. So after buying a couple of 10-rib belts that I thought could possibly work, I finally decided to widen my search to 12-rib belts! I found exactly what I needed for length so I ordered it up. I put a new blade in my utility knife, flipped the belt inside out, and carefully cut two ribs off! It went surprisingly well with the belt grooves keeping the knife in line as I made the cut. I put it all back together and took the car for 15-20 ride around town to make sure all was well.

Unfortunately that’s probably all I’ll get done for this year. I’m sure the roads will be getting salted in my neck of the woods any day now and that will mean no more driving. My Camaro has never seen snow, ice, or salt and that’s not about to change! And to boot, we just accepted an offer from a nice couple to buy our home! So we’ll be moving to Southern New Hampshire this January! The new home also has a garage with good potential so we’ll immediately get that pimped out like my current garage. I’ll definitely post up some progress pics!
Never looked better my friend!

I think I can probably tackle that if Mike doesn’t want to… we’ll see. The move will screw up a couple of months on me since I won’t want to take the car apart beforehand. But if we get into February and I’m bored, look out lol…

What is this rookie hour? Wrap your damn belt! xtremecfm.com has a bunch of idler sizes to choose from if you really want to get it dialed in. I had to work hard to get the belt slip to stop on the vette. Hitting 21psi after almost a year of messing things. ZL1 surprisingly picked up almost 1psi after putting the idler on in that pic. I didn’t even think the shit was slipping but did it anyway after all my vette struggles.

Damn, guess I better get my act together!

Great info though! Thanks!

I was too busy being a smartass and forgot I actually have a 80mm xtremecfm idler that didn’t work on the vette. Never ran. It appears you have the Toohighpsi idler which is 74mm. I will ship it to you and you can try it first if you want. Same one like the pic I sent only that one was 90mm.

Thanks for the offer! I’d like to hold off for now as I’ve sold my house and buying a new one over the next two months, so with a move coming up I don’t want to screw with the car right now lol. Plus, I’m seriously considering making a custom 12-rib setup…

If I don’t do that then I’ll hit you up in a few months so that I can mess around with the idler pulley.
