Zl1 1le Transmission Tremec Destroyed Need Replacement

Hello everyone,

I’m from Germany and I own a 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE (manual). Unfortunately, my transmission has failed, and I’m currently looking for a replacement.

Details of my car:
Model: 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE (manual)
Transmission: Tremec TR-6060 MH3 (close-ratio)
GM Part Number: 24298780
Power level: ~750–800 HP at the crank

Here is what happened:
My previous owner had the transmission oil cooler in the front replaced. When I checked the oil level later, I found out it was about 1 liter low. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice this immediately – I only realized it after around 4,000 km of driving, when the gearbox started to make a slight whining noise. From there it got worse, until it completely failed. Now the car won’t move when releasing the clutch, and the transmission is making loud internal noises.

What really surprises (and frustrates) me:
Normally, the TR-6060 MH3 is known to be nearly indestructible. Many people run these with 1000+-900+ crank HP without major issues. That’s why I think in my case the low oil level was the real killer – otherwise this transmission should not have failed at only 20k miles.

👉 My questions to the community:

1. Has anyone else experienced a similar failure with the MH3 transmission in the ZL1 1LE?
2. Do you know good rebuild shops or suppliers for a new/remanufactured transmission (GM #24298780) in the US that also ship internationally?
3. Any idea about current pricing and availability of this transmission?

I’d really appreciate your feedback, recommendations, and maybe even offers if someone has a spare unit.

This place seems to be the go to for transmissions in Indiana. Might want to reach out and see what they can offer? I know a few people with 5th/6th gen camaros who had work done here. They are legit.

https://www.txdrivetrain.com/ Im currently in contact with Jason
and also with Tick Performance too.

The point is: I need to upgrade/rebuild my TR6060 and now I have to choose the right one to go with.
My goal is a reliable transmission with smooth shifting and the right upgrades to handle my setup.

When I needed work done on my TR 6060 I called Tremec directly at one of the HQ locations in Michigan. Also in person spoke with some of their reps in Kentucky when I was at the Hot Rod Power Tour. They recommended I take it to one of their certified repair facilities (Only a few in the US). Go to Tremecs website-the certified facilities are listed there.

Very pleased with the repair work.
D&D Performance in Wixom MI. I dropped the car off and had them drop the trans down but I could have also pulled the trans myself and sent it to them.

I looked into RPM. Personally I have no opinion or experience with them but more than one person unrelated to Tremec professionally advised me to seek repair work elsewhere.

Not sure if this is helpful given your location in Germany but I wish you luck.

Sounds more like the clutch pressure plate or disc broke.
Losing all gears at once is unlikely from just low fluid. Maybe if the bearings were seizing and it snapped off the input or output shaft. Not saying its not possible but i would verify it's not on the clutch assembly first.

Or maybe the rear diff.
The lack of explanation of how you came to the conclusion the transmission failed doesn't help anyone.
Does it go into any gear when you move the shifter?
Does the clutch pedal go to the floor and stay there?
If you put it in gear with the engine off and the park brake off are you able to push the car?
Do any gears work at all?
When you release the clutch in gear does the driveshaft turn?
