Oil pan leak replacement of oil silicone gasket

Took my 2021 ss Camaro to the shop today to get a diagnostics on this slow oil leak I’ve been having for quite a while. Turns out there’s a hole in oil pan and they need to replace the oil resistance RTV silicone gasket has this happened to anybody else labor is $185.00 an hour for 11 hours and the part is only $12.88 for two of them so it’s $25 for that so in total $2063.51 for labor and parts here in california…

So there is a hole in the oil pan? Or the silicone gasket is leaking?

The labor is high because you have to lift the engine or drop the subframe or a combination of both, just to get the oil pan off to reseal it.

A 2021 Camaro may still still be covered by the 5 year powertrain warranty? The repair should be free?

Did they check for loose bolts? Some people have been able to resolve an oil pan leak by simply tightening the bolts to factory specs.

Check the oil pan bolts. When I had my oil pump replaced on my ZL1, my buddy (former GM Master Tech) found that half the bolts were loose and oil was leaking. My buddy said it was pretty common on the LT1 and LT4's for the oil pan bolts to come loose.
I never had a drop of oil reach my garage floor, so I never knew it was leaking!

You can get the exact date/mileage your VIN warranty will end here.

My car developed an oil leak a few years ago which I thought was from a past oil change, turns out the oil cooler and front timing cover were both leaking. Covered under warranty but the breakdown I spotted while there was $2122.19 parts + $866.98 labor for a total of near $3k

Second a few loose bolts on my LT1 fixed it's little drip and I was able to do it myself.
