2016 SS Crankshaft Position Sensor

I’m being quoted by the dealer for a little over $1K for the replacement of a crankshaft position sensor since my 2016 2SS often turns for a while before starting or won’t start if I try turning it on shortly after I just turned it off and they diagnosed this as the issue. Does this sound about what you’d expect for the part and labor? And is that likely the issue? They’re also suggesting I get a new battery in addition to that but I’m pretty sure the battery is fine.

Sounds like a typical dealer price 50% above what it should be. $200 part ($400 w/ 100% dealer markup) and 2 hours labor @ $300 + "shop extras" and tax. At an independent I'd expect it to be $650-700. So call around.

If it cranks and sputters a tiny bit, try tapping the throttle once or twice while cranking... my car does this sometimes.

Watch the tach. If it's not moving while cranking then maybe a crank sensor. Kinda sounds more like loss of rail pressure. A scanner would be able to determine it pretty easily.
