Saving a buck is why they want to give you a 6.6, to re-use existing cranks when they really need to give you a 427 or even 440. Don't cheer an incremental bump.

If they want to save a buck, the 350 should be cast iron block, a lot of V8 truck guys buy for smoothness. Then share a cheap cast crank with a shorter deck fwd V8 for Cadillac, because someone said fwd needs a narrower engine, and the base Caddy buyer also wants cheap smoothness.

I was more than likely that someone. And that comment was more to explain why there will never again be a 3800 V6. GM's days of putting V8 in FWD platforms died with the W-Body Impala SS / Monte Carlo SS.

If the reports that the 2 engine displacements are accurate, I can see the 6.6 in the Corvette and the 5.7 should they decide to bring back the Camaro.

Which would be awesome to see the iconic 350 return to its rightful place under the hood of a Camaro for the first time since 2002.

I'm basically thinking the XT5 and 6 would make more money with a small 8, it's not about Nascar. They should make easy V8 money where it's easy (1/2 tons), and keep a 350 out of the Chevy performance cars. They probably shouldn't do another fwd V6. They should make a genVI upgraded V6 over 5 liters with forged internals, able to use a 250 shot as an ace in the hole. Current work vans get beat on as is, and the LV1 has looked agile good in the HR6 track car and pro spec offroad.

We own a 19' Cadillac XT5 with the 3.8 and love it. Does it need a V8 going forward I would say no.

3.6L. I know I'm nitpicking on the displacement, but the 3.8L V6 and 3.6L V6 are completely different animals. Like cattle and sheep. Both eat grass (or gas), but they're built very differently.

The 3.8L was a 90-degree cast iron block OHV V6 used mainly in RWD products. It died with the 2009 Buick LaCrosse.

The 3.6L is a 60-degree aluminum block DOHC V6 designed for FWD applications like the Saturn Vue and also RWD applications like Cadillac ATS. Those were the first two vehicles to use it.

I would not be surprised if Manufacturers did the 2026+ Durango route where some power train options would not be available in the more emission strict states. If the demand was high enough in the states that are not emission strict like California to allow the Hellcat like powertrains or just big Engine fun in general. While I am not against EVs being in the market it seems at least from what I saw (if I am wrong correct me) that the sales are not where they are wanted to be at. Also careful with the Politics guys not really allowed here from what I read.

No political commentary. I’ve deleted at least 3 political posts in this thread, next stop is thread closure.

Great motor! Made almost as much horsepower as the original LS1. The original 2010 LGX Camaro was rated 304 and the 98 LS1 Camaro was rated 305. Of course the LS1 made more than rated, and the LGX probably didn't, but it is still an impressive jump. I agree - bring it back! Even though GM's latest turbo four would be no slouch in something lighter than a Silverado...

What was the odd thing that happened during the first year of CA's ban on copper in brakes? I believe it was certain trims weren't available in CA because GM didn't opt for the copper free Brembo pads or something... wasn't it?

In other words, I would not expect GM to do anything, with any vehicle, that made any additional complexity or required "more thinking" on their part.

But, obviously, not the post of the "political commentary" I actually replied to, which is quite telling, seeing as my post was deleted.

That out of the way, it's sad really, that Camaros will likely, if the brand ever comes back, go EV. EVs for family cars, I'm 100 percent for. Enthusiast's cars, not so much.

Maybe I'll change my mind. But I grew up hot rodding and loving V8s, and it's ingrained in my DNA. Maybe GM can prove me wrong. But not waiting to find out.

I'm looking for another 6th gen M6 now that I'm close to closing on my house, after trading in my 2016 M6 in October 2024, and need another V8 before they get phased out.

I went back 3 entire pages of posts to delete political commentary. Sorry that didn’t meet your standards. You're welcome to join an another Camaro forum if you want to post political commentary.
