Rev match doesnt work unless you press the clutch

I didn't know if you guys knew that the rev match function wont work unless you press the clutch. If you float gears rev match not work.

I was driving my 16yo daughters manual saturn ion and she said "why does my car feel different when you drive my car vs when i do". I told her it's because i don't use the clutch most of the time. She asked me if i know anyone else that drives like that. And i told her that i know a lot of people that know the concept but i don't know anyone that actually does but me. I would say 80 to 90 percent of shifts in her car i will float them. In my car about 50 to 60 percent. I was thinking rev match would make that easier but with the need of the clutch engagement it doesn't work.

Save your comments about it destroys the transmission. Ive done it for years and have never needed to change synchros.

You're answering the random weird questions that pop in my head I think are too silly to ask.

This is something I've randomly wondered, as in my head rev match would make downshifting this way super easy. Interesting to know it doesn't work. (I've clutchless shifted in older vehicles, didn't have the guts to try it in the Camaro)

I'm not really sure the reason but fwd cars are way easier to float gears. I guess it's shifter cable streach but i really don't know.
