Finally got the cage, seats, and harnesses in
Man, that was an adventure.
The CMS cage was relatively straightforward and easy. The seats? Not so much. Started with Sparco bases but a couple things bugged me about them. The inboard position to install the T-50 bolt to secure it to the car doesn’t allow for the stock bolt, the bolt is longer then the available space in between the actual seat base and the tab which screws to the car. I’ve seen where some folks drilled out the plate above but I didn’t love that idea. Additionally, there is no where to mount the sub straps for the harnesses and I didn’t particularly want to drill holes in the floor of the car. I ordered Brey Krause seat bases and the accompanying sub strap mounting bar. Some minor mods still had to take place to the OMP side mounts but it eventually all worked out. OMP HTE-R (xl on drivers side, regular on PAX side), Schroth 6 point, CMS roll bar, and as mentioned, OMP side brackets and Brey Krause mounts. I may wind up pulling the drivers side and moving it up slightly after this months trip to Barber, it’s hard to tell just driving around the roads if I have it just right. Looks great!! I went with the Brey Kraus also based on reviews I had read on this forum. Not super simple but they work well. Love the red belts too. Nice work!

What did y’all do with your FHR when making the switch to harnesses? I’m pretty comfortable with my Hybrid S. Any reason to switch to a “regular” HANS type device?

I went straight from nothing to a Hans device, I can't imagine you'd need to get rid of the Simpson if you like it, can't say I've ever read that it was required for a typical Hans.

I didn’t weigh anything but I suspect by the time you add the cage it’s a zero sum game Last edited by redfish86; 11-05-2025 at 12:37 PM. |

Be sure to stow the belts before closing the doors!!! The metal inserts have a way of finding the door sills!!

Ran at Barber last weekend, man what a difference. I could definitely feel the car much better and much less fatigued at the end of the weekend.
