new HPTuners MPVI4...

Anyone thinking this is a must for the 6th gens or v3 is fine and nothing new related to tuning the 6th gens?

Based on their webpage and Goat Rope Garage's quick review, it has nothing new for our cars except higher performance (aka more simultaneous channels at higher rates) and wifi support (along with the already previously available bluetooth).

I'm generally wary of their new software, because they tend to quietly remove features or make them conditionally available subject to mandatory user training, and if one buys a newer MPVI unit, it will unsurprisingly require new software, so you can't keep using older versions to still have access to everything.

Agreed. Most of us have been on older versions for a while. I’m still on MPVI2, going on 7+ years.

That said, the 4 did catch my interest as it looks to be able datalog a ton of data channels with much better resolution. I’m probably just trying to log too much data lol

HPT tricked me again today. I downloaded the beta and tried to load the tune above, but I got the same 'wrong version' message. Oops, I forgot to delete the old shortcuts, so it went to the old beta Editor.

Just another source of income for HP Tuners. Not saying they aren't improving their products, but the differences between them are rarely enough to justify a new purchase. The biggest jump was from the MPVI1 to MPVI2

I am not a fan of how they keep rolling out new stuff that gives you less for more money.

This culture of paying more and getting less for it needs to die, and we as the consumers must show our dismay with our wallets.

I get ya... I know at one point and time my original MPVI3 was able to access my CCM for tuning and I had to do some kind of "allowed" parameters on the tools menu or something like that, and I had to do an internet training thing on HP Tuners website or something to unlock it. It allowed additional exhaust tuning etc. But, my computer does seem to have that option any more when I'm in HPTuners. I think it's total Dum AZZ that I COULD BE TOTALLY WRONG ON WHAT I'M REMEBERING... So, it sounds like, I'll just keep what I got !!! Thanks

^Those things are not specific to the MPVI device. That is software related...HPT implemented all those things on version 5.X on up. You likely don't have access to the CCM because whoever tuned it last might not have selected to read it when they pulled the Tune file from the car. All you need to do is connect to the odb2 port, select read in HPT, and check all 3 controllers (ECM, TCM, CCM).

I still use a MPVI1 because I can revert back to versions prior to 5.x that doesn't require training course and there are some emission things like "cat warmup" disable/enable I still use on 2016-2019 cars. I can log all of the necessary parameters needed for this platform with the 1. The only drawback is the 1 cannot gain access to the enhanced A10 parameters that you need version 5.X to access.

My tuner says he has to use the latest unstable beta MPVI4 because he tunes a wide range of different engines and transmissions. But I told him it's a pain in the ass for guys like me to use because there are a bunch of anomalies associated with the process that I never faced using stable versions.

Can't wait to see what tables that we previously had access to are now gone with this update.
