Masino’s a product of Starbucks. That was her first corporate position. So you can understand where she got her south paw tendencies.

But Barra is an engineer at heart. Came up through GM. She turned on us when the Obama admin flashed illusions of CEO in her eyes.

I grew up a GM car guy. I don’t have any problem with her as a CEO. Most don’t like HER as a CEO and have no real idea what a CEO does.

I can critique the crap out of GM product decisions all day long. But as a CEO she is doing what a good CEO does.

Now we can skip the the fact that she went to GMI like Martinjim and I did

A CEO is the chief decision maker. most seem to think she should be Steve Jobs and inventing the product. Not her job.

As I said if you want to discuss product deficiencies and bad decisions, I’m all in. But she has done one thing consistently. MADE THE COMPANY PROFITABLE.

Nope. Just know the role of the CEO and it’s hard to argue her record of keeping GM profitable. You just can’t. Data proves it.

Worship. LOL you really should do stand up.

Funny... I actually grew up a FORD car guy. I've actually owned more Mustangs than Camaros and Corvettes combined. Even owned 4 different Mustangs during my years at GMI My last two were 1979 Indy Pace Cars. One 2.3T and one 5.0L. Guess you could say I was born to be a Competitor Intelligence Director (the job I retired from at GM).

But you are absolutely correct about the job of CEO versus the job of Product Development head (which Mary has done before). Mark Reuss leads Product Development and is in charge of product strategy and execution. Mary is responsible for balancing everything out and making the company as profitable as possible. I think both are doing an excellent job.

Now where I do hold Marry accountable is the 6.2L debacle. From what I’ve read GM took no action until there were 30,000 known cases. I know how quality alerts/data works and what is available at the OEM level. GM knew they had a problem with less than 1,000 cases simply because they know the normal or expected failure rates for this and it simply had to have been flagged as highER. I certainly don’t blame Mary for the design or manufacturing issue, but I’m not sure this is being handled in a manner that instills GM as a company that not only builds quality but stands behind it when they fall down.

But hey! the stock hit a record high of over $70 per share, so back to her getting fired? lol nope. Stock holders are happy.

Yeah, even the Charger now is a coupe again with the announcement of the sixpack gas engine. If they bring it back in 4 door form similar to the Cadillac, I might have to seriously consider it especially if its available in a N/A V8. I have no need for the blower, and with a child it would be a great replacement for me as long as it doesn't look hideous.

The new Charger has 2-door and 4-door models. They simply eliminated the Challenger name and made both body styles Charger.

It has its merits.

Give me the front end and hood from the first pic and lose the air duct in front of the rear wheels. Tail lights need a little work however overall a pretty reasonable and decent looking rendering.

I would be first in line if the next Camaro looked like that. The 3rd gen is the definitive Camaro for me. I hope GM would give it a liftback like the 3rd gen as well (the new Charger has a liftback too).

Sorry convertible guys, maybe GM could give you t-tops or a targa top to compensate.

Considering my formative years as a kid and a car guy was the 1980s it was the 3rd gen that got me into Camaros. Specifically Simon & Simon and their ‘IROC (I’d already gone bonkers for the ‘69 Charger with the Dukes a couple years earlier but I was 10 when S&S was on and realized someone with an average salary could walk into a Chevy dealer buy an IROC brand new) if equipped right I’d definitely consider trading my ‘24 for one.

But it would have to have a 6 speed stick and a non-hybrid V8 available or no deal.
