Exhaust Resonators?!

My 2020 ZL1 has Kooks AB with 3" pipes and 10" mufflers. However, it's too loud and drones way too much. Has anyone found a reasonator, say at Corsa, that would tame these down?

Resonators are the only way to go if you don't have cats imo. I have the borla resonated X pipe, but you could simply have some resonators welded in your current exhaust. Go with the largest ones that will fit. If you look at say Corsa's website, you will see that their smallest resonator attenuates the sound 2.5-3db and the largest offering is 6db. I would honestly go with the largest bullet resonators that will fit and a pair of Corsa Sport or AWE Touring mufflers. The Kooks bullet mufflers don't do much especially after all the packing burns out of them.

You're talking about this guy? My Kooks AB uses clamp-on mufflers.

Vibrant makes a whole line of resonators that will work. I used the 1794s and 1795s in my ZL1 to tone down the resonance. The 1794 is 12" long, the 1795 is 18" long, both will fit though.

My car had mbrp cat back on it when I got it. The j pipes actually work great for killing drone driving around. The car is still stupid loud getting after it but quite nice driving around low rpm.

Good call! You beat me too it... just found that whole product line recently...
Seems like they would fit great!

I agree... I have the Magnaflow Center X #12469, and when paired with the AWE touring, sounds AMAZING!

Before the center X... it was wayyy to loud, had drone, and less tone.

I used to use this center muffler and it worked very well. My shop had “customized” it to fit better and that new weld eventually cracked a few years later. So between that and the buzz was that it would “cost me power” at big levels, so I took it out. Guess what, that Magnaflow muffler did not cost me ANY power even at 1K WHP plus! I saw no gain taking it out. I’ve debated putting another one in and definitely would if I drove it in the street more. 2” headers with no cats is biblically loud, even with resonators and the AWE Touring mufflers. Don’t get me wrong, it sounds badass now, but on the street I’m a bit self-conscious about it. Massachusetts is not performance car friendly unfortunately.

A lot depends on what straight pipes are being used. My ARH 3" long tubes wouldn't work with any resonator, not enough room in the tunnel. Also took off the AWE touring mufflers as they weren't NPP and with my build really loud. Put the original mufflers back on but, you do lose a lot of the sound from the cam. Now I am thinking going to the Corsa with NPP and can at least have the option in sound.

What exhaust did you add that too?

You have long tube headers as well? Sorry for all of the questions, just triying to quiet down my Kooks with AWE touring as well.

Cool MagnaFlow Plus AWE Crossflow

I have ARH 2.0" long tubes, no cats Magnaflow X and my new AWE Crossflow for the sexiest Effing sound a ZL1 can make at any RPM & Load!!!

Click for inside video with no drone sound

Please note that I did have to switch to the larger/stronger Cadillac Escalade NPP actuators from the OEM ZL1s due to the much larger full 3" butterfly valves. Mashing the throttle under an long underpass was EPIC AF!!

Sounds very nice. Is this a new AWE product for the 6th gen Camaro? Are they now offering valves?
