Jax Wax Street Madness!!! So, had my best run yet in the ZL1. It was crazy hot at the track, 91° most of the time we ran, then when it got dark it dropped to 86°. IAT.2 was show heat soak as I was hot lapping. But, I shut the car off, popped the hood and when I came back it IAT was only 100° vs the heat soaked 150°+ from hot lapping. I did learn when in the lane, to just leave my hood open as I moved the car forward. When I got right to the tower entrance, I jumped out and shut it. IAT.2 at the light on my best run was only 114°, and that helped. This is my best run to date !!!! The car felt awesome crazy, and boy did it take off like a rocket:

R/T = .3116
60ft = 1.6182
1/8 = 6.8373 @ 106.11
1/4 = 10.5005 @ 134.21

I'm pretty stoked !!! This baby felt awesome on that run !

Here is the video of that run !

Thanks bro! Yeah, it was cool because I 100% KNEW it was a great run. In fact, I didn't even look at the time slip until I left the track and got home ! It was AWESOME ! I did leave the nannies on... I wasn't hooking earlier and I knew with it cooling off it would hook less. But, I actually discovered the art of a correct burn out. And WOW did it hook on that last run, so much so the front end came up (Not tires off the ground) just the front raised from the dig of the rears gripping so good! It was COOL !

We are adding one additional item I overlooked: A 160° thermostat.

Also, while they have the car in their shop and on a lift. I was thinking about the idea of having them install at 15" conversion for the rear. I know BMR Carlyle Racing has a really nice full kit and it comes with drilled rotors and black calipers. Is anyone here running that kit or similar, and do you regret making the conversation for any reason? I think doing that kit would open up more options for my rear beadlocks wheel size and tires. Should have more option for the tire size for MT ET Street Pro's or even some MT ET Drag Slicks Bias-Ply? Any input from those who have made this leap would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I have the Carlyle/BMR setup but wish I was running 17’s again. Running 15’s means you cannot balance the setup since the weights would hit the caliper. Setup was a lot smoother and stable with the 17’s IMO and I wouldn’t do 15’s unless you’re gunning for quarter mile times only.

Update: Made the 6 hour round trip to Katech and dropped off the ZL1! Talked over the build details with Mike! We are spot on with what's getting done.

We added the BMR Motor mounts and an LT5 belt tensioner (changing to a 10 rib setup) to the build last minute. While the engine is out, they are going to take care of a few small things I just have not gotten around to doing. 1) Rerun the SC coolant hose loops, 2) grind down the tabs on the supercharger I removed when I installed my first set of valve covers and coil relocation kit, 3) Relocate the catch can to the shock tower and 4) repair the connector clips on two coil connects.

Sad note of the drive back: There were two major accidents that 1) stopped us for 45 minutes and Life Flight landed at the accident scene and another was a car started swaying between left and right lane, almost hit the back of our trailer and then shot across the grass median and then stuck at least a car maybe more on the other side. CRAZY.

Update: We are changing over my pully and belts. We are doing a pully kit that Gabe offers: LT5 Tensioner, billet mounting bracket, sway bar spacer, 10-rib 2.4" upper, 10-rib 10" lower, and a 10 rib belt This will get me to to 2% over what I have now, which will make up for the boost drop due to the CAM and the more efficient heads.

From "spot on to what's getting done" to "Update, we're changing etc" lol the builds are never ending, it's been a fun read thanks for updating!

It never ends. I promised this wasn't going to be a thing, and I wasn't trying to lie or anything, but Good Grief. I'm super blessed I have a supportive better half.

Update: Have not head from Mike at Katech yet if my ZL1 made it on the lift this week or not.

But, I came to an interesting conclusion just today, maybe more a reality! I realized, I just don’t know when to STOP F’ing with my car!!!

So, I have been contemplating replacing my Weld Solana's RT's wheels literally since I mounted them on my Z. For several reasons: 1) I don’t really like the way the front shows the satin wheel ring, which visually doesn’t match the rear beadlock look at all, 2) I originally wanted the Belmont’s, not the Solana’s that I bought, but the Belmont’s were on backorder 8 to 10 weeks when I was ready to place my order, and 3) I originally wanted fully forged wheels not cast wheels (big weight difference)

Don't get me wrong, I like the Solana wheels I have, I just don't LOVE them. Again, the Solana’s were not my first choice. After talking with Timothy Perdieu at Weld (who’s a well-respected bracket racer himself, his ZL1 is pushing 1250rwhp) and getting his advice about me buying new forged wheels and replacing my Solana’s. I've decided to buy new wheels, again!

So, I've decided to go with new Vitesse forged aluminum wheels 17x10 beadlock rears and will run MT ET Street R 305/45R17, and 18x6 fronts with Mickey Thompson Sportsman I would run a 28x6/18's. This saves over 14lbs of total wheel weight, and these look almost identical to the Belmont’s I originally wanted. I’m getting them with the Black Shell option. This will be a black powder coats wheel rim, so no stain or polished aluminum wheel rim look.

These are the wheels, and what they look like on a Camaro!

Looks great, nice choice!

More advice for you lol… if you’re spending big money to save weight (well, AND look good haha!) then why run the MT Sportsman up front? That’s a massively heavy tire for a front runner. MT makes a matching ET Street front runner that is only 18 pounds (vs 25) so you save 14 pounds up front.

That's a good point. I will speak to Tim at Weld on Monday about that and see if he can change the order ! Thanks for the advise !
