does anyone use a Cricut vinyl printer for decals

My wife has a Cricut vinyl printer which she's made number decals for me for the track.

I was at Road Atlanta and met a ZLE owner who's wife does the same thing as well as makes track decals for the windows.

My question is the Cricut brand vinyl labels don't stick well. Does anyone have experience with other brands that stick well. The guy I met wife said she buys the off brand at Walmart but I want a brighter red that is the same color as the Brembo calipers since it really pops on with my Hyper Blue paint.

Thanks in advance.

You're looking for different brands of vinyl? -I run a sign shop, -so have lots of experience. Oracal 651 is very affordable, though really for flat surfaces only, and will leave adhesive when removed. We use it for flat, commercial vehicles. For "nice" vehicles, I like 3M 1080/2080, or Avery 900 series. You can do a full wrap with it, or cut decals on a plotter. Definitely not cheap, but you can do anything with it, it lasts forever, applies easy, wraps easy, removes easy, and at least for me, whatever I don't use today will likely get used some time in the future. Try buying from Metro Restyling. Little more money per square foot, but you can buy smaller pieces.

....and important to say I have no experience, or really any knowledge of Cricut devices. We use large commercial grade plotters.

Thanks, I don't know if they make vinyl for the Cricut. My wife has used it to make the numbers for me in the past, and it worked fine. I don't leave them on year round especially since some HPDE event groups don't allow for duplicate numbers, so if I don't sign up early and someone has the number I use then I have to change it. It's happened a couple times. I like the idea I can produce them on the fly.

Thanks for the info though.

I have #44 decals on my car and basically fudge the whole number thing when signing up for track events. If 44 is taken, I enter 4 or 444 or 144 but leave my car as is.

At the end of the day, there's rarely another car on track with the same number and even if there is, they can deal with it. Haven't had a problem in the last 2 years with this approach.

Thankd, but that's really not the issue, I want to know if anyone has used the Cricut printer and what vinyl lables they used.

My daughter has cut a bunch of vinyl for me with my wife's Cricut. I think most of it has been VViViD ordered through Amazon. I don't think this brand has the best reputation, but it's been totally fine for our purposes. It seems like the main trick is to make sure you use the right blade for the style of vinyl and the right depth for its thickness.

Yes. I used this and it’s been easy to install and remove… made a matching iron on for my kid too

Thanks, I was looking at that brand as it seemed to have the same color of red I was looking for.

Assuming you're looking for that bright red, like the brake calipers, I'd be shocked if they didn't ALL have that color.

yes they do. the oracle 631 is a matte finish and I don't want matte, I want gloss. I 've seen them but since they say "permanent" I just wanted to make sure that's not the case.

No vinyl is permanent. They typically use that term to describe how easy it is to remove, and will it leave a bunch of adhesive behind or not. 631 won't come off super easy, and the longer it's on, the harder it'll be. That 3M or Avery I mentioned above is excellent, and would likely leave NO residue, although sometimes it'll leave a very slight amount. -but it costs more too soooo, it's a give and take.

Thanks, that makes sense. I’m going to try the VViViD brand and see if I like it. I don’t need a permanent solution, this is cheap enough to just cut another decal and apply.
