2016 Camaro SS FRONT SS emblem removal
Guys, I've searched high and low, and what seams like a common topic, CLEARLY is not. Anyone have an instructions, or possibly a diagram of how to remove the FRONT SS emblem? On my first 6th gen, I snapped the bracket removing it. Didn't matter, but still hate that it broke. On my SECOND 6th gen, I'm hoping to modify, and re-install.
I'll post if I find anything. |

So quick update, -it popped right off. Looking at the back piece, It's actually REALLY easy too. Not sure why the first go-around was so tricky. Anyhow, popped off, backing piece fell into the grill, but was quickly retrieved with a parts grabber tool. Almost feel silly for posting, BUT.....maybe it'll help someone else, so I suppose it can't hurt. FWIW.... I just reached 3 fingers into the bottom, and sorta pulled down and out, and I immediately felt the bottom tabs come loose. Did the same on the top and bam. Popped right out. High end hotrodding. |

Yep, that one wiggles right out. The bowtie took a little more work, in that there were some fasteners on the back, but I managed to get it out without breaking it or losing any fasteners in case the next owner wants it.

There's a bracket behind the grill emblem? I assumed it was held on by only adhesive. Curious because I bought an oem dark gray/black RS emblem to replace the red one that came on my LT1, but haven't got around to messing with it yet.
Here's a link to the emblem I got: https://parts.gmparts.com/product/gm...Id=1&year=2022 Does the back of the SS emblem look the same? |

From what I can tell, yeah, it appears to be the same.
I think when I say the "bracket", I mean the part behind the grill. There are 3 pieces. The "back" of the bracket, the "front" of the bracket, and then the emblem itself. I'm quite sure the posts in the emblem are more for alignment than adhesion. The double stick tape is gross overkill. If they do NOT line up, I'd have no issues cuttin' 'em off and just using tape. |

Is the piece in the back of the grill doing anything to hold the emblem in place? In other words, would I be able to remove the emblem by applying heat (to loosen the adhesive) and pry it off, similar to the rear bumper SS/RS emblems?

You can see the clips on the SS emblem, after i broke the top clips, and the rear bracket on the bowtie in these images.

Ahhh ok, SS is different. There's no plastic piece - that emblem is glued to - to unclip on the LT. On the LT, the emblem is glued directly to the grill (see pics below). My plan, noted in my previous post, should work.
Thank you. |
