He went to bat for me with his insurance company and got me full value for the car and also for them to pay for the work done.

I later got a 2023 ZL1 but if I ever have work done on this car, he will be the first to go to.
That's cool of Ron. Ron has always been a very down to Earth car guy. I'm sending my 2024 CT5-V Blackwing in November to be modified, this will be the second car I've sent to VR. They aren't cheap but its peace of mind knowing that when I send the car there, it gets treated like its Ron's personal car and when I get it back, I have zero worries about the modifications and reliability.

I've known Ron @Vengeance for a long time and I even took my Caprice with the built LS3 there when we have our own dyno shop... because he has tuned nearly every Caprice police car in multiple counties. Experience Matters... even when you have your own shop and dyno!

Was Ron the guy that remove the oil cooler and tune the coils?

I don't really know Vengeance other than what I've read in posts here. I'm sure they mostly have pleased customers, but like all other shops, a few are not.

My shop #1 did all the removals and installations for this LME 390 car in January 2024, dyno-tuned it, and it ran great. As Jason has suggested, the head gasket probably popped on one of his more aggressive tunes. It was after the gasket blew, in January 2025, that shop #1 began avoiding fixing the obvious. And that continued into June when he told me he was closing his shop due to rent increases.

I really need to find a Denver-area shop with Gen 6 experience that can disassemble and reassemble my car competently. Something always needs to be worked on, and my garage is not set up for that nor is my back.

If you can find a negative review of Vengeance Racing, I'll be shocked. They're that good. In my honest opinion, there are only a few shops with the experience and know-how to work on car at your level. Vengeance is one of them. Rather than settling for a shop in the Denver area, I would ship the car to Vengeance Racing or possibly Cordes Performance in Arizona, or possibly Peitz Performance in Texas. If you insist on finding something close to you, call Vengeance, Cordes, or Peitz and ask them which shops they trust in your area. I'm certain they are aware of which shops they would recommend.

Not surprisingly Cordes named shop #1 first, because they had been a really good shop until they weren't. Shop #2 has been in business as long as shop #1 and everything they've done so far with pricing and carrying out the work and keeping me up to date is better than shop #1. If I decided to ship it to some somebody it would either be KaTech or late model racecraft in Houston.

LMR doesn't have a stellar reputation either.

Vengeance or Katech would be the only two shops I’d trust if I needed a new shop at this point. I use my local shop because the builder has not only batted 99.9% on my build to this point with great results, he is also a trusted friend who encourages active participation from both my brother (who I trust explicitly as both a mechanic and engineer) and myself (also an engineer), so that makes up for the fact that it’s not a high profile shop. If things ever change it’s nice to know Vengeance and Katech exists (and we buy from Katech whenever possible for parts). Just my 2 cents.

Yes, I forgot about Katech. Also top quality.

Here's a great interview with Ron Mowen and Howard Tanner that touches on the business of high performance shops and a multitude of topics about how this industry works.

Don't forget about (ARS) Accelerated Racing Solutions here in North Dallas if you want to ship it anywhere. After shop #1 in my instance shit the bed with me waiting 6 months for a simple Atlas Port Injection install, AFTER they left it outside to get destroyed by hail, I took it to ARS and it was one of the best experiences from one of the most knowledgeable shops in Texas. The owner Tiana was even on Netflix series "Fastest Car" where built cars race super cars. Her and her husband built a mustang with an LS9 in it....super cool show to watch, and awesome people as well. Just my .02

Lingenfelter, Hennessey, probably others, like whoever builds those really fast NHRA class cars

You really should not put the name Hennessey anywhere close to the success of Lingenfelter. Anyone in Texas who fixes those Executioner cars knows this to be 100% true.

I bought HPE's 850 pkg as my ZL1's first mods. They picked it up at my house and delivered it back in two weeks. It ran great with no issues. I then put a 2650 on it and made 1031 whp. I'm trying to sell those same heads now.

They don't make an Executioner.

I just contacted them asking how many cars they worked on last year. In 2019, they completed over 500 cars. No other shop comes close to those numbers. It's also true that the more cars you work on, the greater the number of issues that will arise.

Ryne Cunningham, a nationally known tuner, recently told me that HPE has one of the best tuners, but he only works for HPE.

HPE just said, "we are close to 1000 vehicles a year now and expect to hit 1200+ next year after our new expansion is complete."

I can speak first hand for Katech's work, I've had my car there (3) times for different levels of mods. Their work is always solid, and the car always runs great after picking it up! A few non critical things popped up the last time I picked up the car, but, easy things to work through. Over all, I've been really happy with taking my car to them and letting them do the work! if I do my next round of mods (it looks like I am), they will be getting my car for a 4th time ! Yep, I should have do it all at once, but, I didn't listen to Mike or the advice of others!
