Engine Scan Tools

I’m curious what kind of scan tools people are using on their ZL1’s.

Could you please tell me what brand/type, and why you’ve used it.

Thank you for any guidance or suggestions you may have.

I have an Autel, but I would look for another brand, processor is a tad slow for what you pay for.

Would you mind me asking which model you have? I’m considering the MX900.

Torque pro app (if you have Android) and a 20.00 Bluetooth OBD2 dongle works well for basic PID monitoring and can clear diagnostic codes.

But for heavy lifting I use HPtuners.

The subscriptions/paid updates are what gets you with many of the scan tools. Be very cautious when doing your research. Think of them kind of like a printer. That is to say, they sell you the printer for a "reasonable" price but then charge you out the ass into eternity for the ink cartridges.

Many of the scanners charge $500-1000 to update to new model years.

Bought an Icon T10 a while back. Comes with two years worth of updates.. a couple hundred bucks after that to update. It works well for what I use it for.

Many options out there, just do your homework and don't rush a decision and you will be satisfied.

I can sell you an HPTuners RTD that can be used with the HPTuners VCM scanning software. It came with my magnuson but I didn't need it. Cheap way to get a great scanning and logging tool if you are interested.
