Deeper Exhaust Note but Not much Louder

I like the stock exhaust but wish it had a deeper note and was less raspy.

Anybody accomplish that without making it much louder?

My ARH mufflers do this, but without headers that would probably be too quiet. It's hard to explain the sound, it's a different frequency that is deep but not loud. Mine is not this loud because they have cats.

Borla axle back, mine has deep throaty sound when I pound on it. But still does not wake neighbors when I back out of garage.

Your best option is Borla S Type axleback system!

That Nickey car has a LOT more done to it than just an exhaust.

id probably say borla ATAK axle back if you will never get headers. If you think you will do headers, get the s-type.

I'd like to keep all the npp intact. I wonder if swapping the secondary cats for a small resonator would do anything?

You would need a tune if you are going to delete your rear cats. If you are going to do that, u might as well get headers and pay for a tune once

Borla S-Type will definitely give you a deeper tone. Pretty tame at idle and not so bad on a cold start. Gets good and loud on acceleration and when you get on it.

You can keep npp with Borla, I just put one on a 16 vert this summer. Works and sounds great.

I went with a Borla Atak axle-back, everything else is stock. I was surprised at how it is only marginally louder than stock, imho. These cars are pretty quiet on the inside with windows up. Unless you really get on it, it sounds pretty much like the stock suitcase muffler. It is louder on the outside, which is pretty much what I wanted.

Kooks headers with cats into the stock NPP is not much louder than stock at idle or cruising.

I kept the NPP for those early morning cold starts. It's good to have the option.

If you are already discussing swapping the 2nd cats, then just have a local exhaust shop delete them and replace with straight pipe (keep the primaries) and see how you like the sound. Many members have found that to be a good balance with the NPP in Track mode.
I installed a Borla X-pipe that also deleted the 2nd cats (sorry, no longer available- but you can still get their X-pipe) and did a "crushed pipe delete" just because I wanted to but not necessarily needed. Even my neighbors (well, my motorhead neighbors), say it's the best sounding exhaust they've heard in a long while.
