I'll be finding out...

That's some good news. Hopefully it's accurate! Thanks for sharing

I'm on the lockup page on FB and there's plenty of trucks that have had the lockup but I haven't heard of any Camaros. I just had my '22 SS 1LE TCM update performed.
I have not heard about any yet that I know of.

TCM does NOT seem to be locked after recall flash..

I just got the TCM recall done (and for us CA-boys, the prerequisite recall procedure didn't seem to affect me after all, as I paid for my tag before getting the reflash performed, and DMV's site showed it already shipped, so...), and after using the CORRECT flash procedure (i.e. "FLASH ENTIRE" rather than "FLASH CALIBRATION"). Flashing the CORRECT way seems to write the same as before, and the TCM accepts my tuned file.

I haven't driven him yet, but I greeted with no errors or MILs (unlike writing with the WRONG procedure). Seems GOOD so far!

I heard it needs to be retuned after the recall flash

Not arguing, but that MUST be correct. What I drove out of the dealership on was not my tune.

I was worried about the TCM getting locked or whatever, but it didn't happen for me. You WILL (assuming it's the same for everyone else) need to reflash you tune back into the TCM. Plan on that. BUT - it's not permanently locked nor do you have to send it back to HPTuners to unlock it again.

That's good to know.

But I won't be having them touch my car, they've done enough damage.

I'll be opting for Next Gen's permanent fix.

While the damage done to my car last time was relatively minimal (even though I was quite direct I would be checking), there was no damage this time. It took 2-hours, but whatever.

I have the full valve body kit that I'm still trying to make time and energy for.

I see there was information about a "Gen III" valve body that GM released... I'm waiting for Next Gen to review that. If they find it's good, I might hold off on installing this kit, and pick up a new Gen III VB, if that makes sense.

Edit: he already ripped it a new one, lol. Nevermind...

I think my valve body is starting to exhibit symptoms.

In gear 6, 7, 8 there is a noticiable kicking or bucking with light throttle, no actual rear wheel lock up yet though. I notice this at any speed as long as the trans reaches gear 8 for cruising + light throttle.

But then again I also think I have a low RPM tune issue, where I get the same symptoms at below 1800 rpm's with light throttle, and lower gears.

So its hard to distinguish between valve body or tune.

I really need to get a log together for my tuner, to determine if the tune is to blame.

I have another issue where if the car is in neutral and I rev the RPM's to 3000-4000, and let off, the rpms drop all the way to 0 and the car stalls out. :(

At low rpm the kick/bucking might be related to the torque brake (for lack of a better term) that opens and closes with throttle input my car is sensitive to that as it had to be adjusted by the tuner.

Guess we'll find out soon once I get the log going and try to reproduce the issues.

Guess I better start paying attention to this one again...

My 1st A10 was definitely Gen1 but now I have a 22 Silverado 1500 and a 24 Camaro to consider. I have noticed a hard downshift on the truck every now and then but don't see any recalls listed on it. I'm getting ready to take it in the for the 6.2 bearing check which is basically a free oil change and will need to ask about the trans too.

Chose the hardware fix

As the cold months are coming, I decided to perform the Sonnax hardware fix.

I came here to hopefully get some advice.

After reading most of this thread it looks like the software update doesn't do much except alert you to possible failure and wheel lock up...then what?

I've got 15,800 miles on the car and so far no problems (not that it matters). I just have this bad feeling that once they do the update things will go haywire.

Also, The local dealers tell me that it will take all day possible overnight. One dealer told me a couple of hours then backtracked and said all day. I asked about a loaner and they said no.

I'm not equipped to do any mechanical upgrades...would you just bite the bullet and get it done?

The update doesn't take long at all. I waited for my car.

I just had mine finally done 2 weeks ago. Both recalls and an oil change and I was out in 4 hours.
