Exactly - if they are going for the OBD port exploit, this puts them two steps down the road to "too much trouble, I am out of here."

The OP notes this would be adding a layer, but for others - don't rely on either the OBD lock or OBD spoof alone. Plenty of threads here discussing other security options and multi-layered approaches.
