Pretty sure 0W-20 was, and still is, the recommended factory fill for all L87s.

Makes me wonder how well our 0W-40 DexosR spec oil is really compensating for our equally defective LT1 crankshafts?

While not a truck, I'm glad that I converted my 2LT to a V8 manual instead of buying a new one. Prices are stupid crazy now for anything worth having and the reliability of any new vehicle nowadays is suspect.

Just got a used one for the family. So far so good, but it is not a toyota. The forums warn of warranty issues. Maintenance is key.

Slowly coming to accept both my LT1 crank assembly and my 10L90 are both defective and not recalled.

Meanwhile, the General plays chicanery/games with changing part numbers pretending to fix things.

I agree and I agree with your post above about 0w-40 oil compensating for our defective cranks. I’m in the SS 1LE FB group and there’s been a lot of post covid engine failures. GM definitely did some bull shit cost cutting that caused this issue.

I will say this, I have done 8 track days and knock on wood so far my car still runs great. There are also a select few who have 40+ days on their original engines which is impressive and at that many days a failure would actually be acceptable imo.

There is one guy in the group who had 4 engine replacements. He changed his oil after every track weekend. I’m betting he kept getting engines with defective cranks.

I’m a tad over a year with a 24 GMC Canyon and 24k miles and I still luv the truck. Had headlight blinking issue and left turn signal issue, I knew of both the problems before even buying the pickup. They were resolved under warranty although my turn signal doesn’t feel or sound right and will request a new one or check and resolve any looseness before I hit the 50k mark. Other than that, I too had a bad battery and OTA update issues. First dead battery occurred at 1200 miles, next was around 14000 miles and they replaced it. Was probably the cause of the failed OTA updates as I haven’t had issues with OTA updates since. I have towed a 69 Camaro with a uhaul trailer and a 4000 pound RV without issue. The turbo 4 is strong and impressive because I use my foot. The 8 speed trans works good. I did warranty for 7/70 but I’m gonna be well past the 70k miles in 4 years. Tad concerned about the future of the trans from past reported history and the engine with higher mileage. It’s my understanding GM extended the same engine warranty in 1500’s to 100k miles. Probably to help move them off lots and definitely encouraging to hear that. Ok done rambling for now.
