Question Lost nut front end

Hey guys!

I just got home and decided to change my brake pads and rotors when I noticed a pretty big nut that had fallen off my car. I can't figure out where it came from.

I've inspected the wheels and suspension as best I can, but nothing obvious is missing or loose.

I've been having vibration in my car for a while now, which is why I decided to change my rotors and brake pads, as well as get wheel balancing and redo an alignment not long ago.

I don't know if it's because I haven't driven it in a while, but I feel like the vibration has gotten a bit more than it used to be or maybe it's just a placebo effect, lol.

Do any of you could have an idea where it could come from please?

Thanks for chiming in!

Yup, what cdb95z28 said. Check your sway bar end-links. These come loose all the time.

Thanks guys! After inspecting my end links, I can confirm it's the same nut. However, they're not missing at all lol. Matter of fact the ones on the passenger side are identical as my pictures above. Though, on the driver's side, it's just a regular nut (see pictures below). I'm guessing it was added over the nut as a precaution from a fix back in the days and it loosened up over time

That said, while I was under the car and taking a closer look, I spotted a crack in one of the control arm bushings on the driver's side (see picture below). I'd noticed it before, but back then it was only a bit worn around the edges with no actual cracks. Now it's quite noticeable Lately and occasionally I do hear a clunking or clapping sound. Could this be the cause?

Also, could this explain the vibration I'm feeling between about 55-75 mph? I notice it more on the driver's side, especially through the pedals, though my wife senses the vibration a bit in the passenger side near her feet.

Thanks again for your help and time!

You want to replace the stock end link nuts with GM 11548382 nuts. Once these are on and torqued to spec they don't come off.

Honestly a 2016 all the bushings in the front probably need replaced. I track mine and just replace both front lower control arms one was leaking and it's just under 2 years old with about 12 track days. It looks like that one has been off before looking at the condition of the nut. These bolts are TTY and one time use only so if you do replace all the arms get new bolts also. You also won't hold any alignment specs with bushings in that condition.

Thanks! I guess I'll redo an alignment right after changing the whole assembly. I just ordered the parts to do both sides. I don't track my car but I do drive it like I stole it (sometimes..)
