I did something similar. I received replacements under warranty and asked to install them, so I was able to keep the old set. The new set was never installed and is in storage. I took a sanding block to the letters on the old set, which left a gray finish, and I kept it that way.

I removed my covers and threw them in the trash. To me they’re gay as all get out with GM trying to show a make believe intake manifold and valve covers like classic first gen LS and LT motors that were under the hoods of first and early 2nd gen Camaros (and Corvette for that matter - same plastic gimmicks on Corvettes)

They’re technically there to muffle the ticking of the direct injection, but with the exhaust in track mode all the time I don’t hear any ticking.

Waste of $10 in plastic on every car that rolled off the line from 2016-24, multiply that out, and GM could have saved a few bucks.

Besides, instead of that fugly plastic they used for the real intake manifold they could have made a nice aluminum one with something like the Camaro SS logo or “Direct Injection” stamped into it in cool font.

True that. I always wondered why GM didn't offer more accessory options, I know we can have a zillion combinations of stripes and whatnot, but this still feels such a barely tapped source on enthusiast cars.

Mine peeled, the dealer replaced them and they peeled again, sanded them down and lived with that for years. Purchased a set of stick on letters on eBay and a year later they are looking OK. https://www.ebay.com/itm/176403425466?var=475940279150

For those who want to keep your paint nice on your cover:

1. Remove it, clean it gently but thoroughly. You want to get all the dust and dirt off but don’t want to remove the paint.

2. Spray it with multiple coats of Rustoleum semi-gloss or mat/flat clear finish.

3. Let dry and cure overnight then re-install. Your paint will never come off.

I know its a temporary fix, but if you still have warranty, GM replaces them for free. Had them replaced on my '19 and having them replaced tuesday on my '23 file a warranty claim!! 9200 miles BTW....
