Tires spinning at 70 mph

Is it normal for me to spin the tires when I’m doing 70 mph and drop it into forth gear and floor it then it spins and traction control comes on in my zl1 1le
If so how to get it to grab right away also running ps4 tires have all the links from SPL

Same here, root cause is the stiff suspension on cold tires.
Also you may want to change your diff oil if its been a while.

you have a couple options if you want the car to move:

buy new rear tires every month
run drag radials
use tire warmers
do a burnout everytime you leave the house

if you dont track the car you could swap out the coilovers and rear shocks to something with a lower spring rate that will allow for weight transfer.

Could I just replace rear springs would that help? Or be a good option?

That’s not going to help if you’re doing 70 when you floor it IMO. Need stickier tires. NT555R2 is probably your best bet. R888R is good too but louder.

My Nitto 555R2's did great for me... But I was still spinning in 4th if I nailed WOT. I then went with Mickey Thompson ET Street R's, and WOW! I know now what it's like to have tires that actually grip and bite!

But, back to the Nitto's, they were great tires, and no where near as loud road noise as I hear others say the Toyo R888R's are.

R888R won’t spin in that scenario. They get a lot of hate, but they’re really good for rolls lol

Agreed, I run them as well in street trim and their performance has been solid. But looking to try the NT555R2 next time I buy street tires. At 400 miles a year they tend to last a while lmao!

I do pretty much daily drive it in summer months. So I’m thinking the nittos are slightly better in days I get caught in the rain

May need tires with wider operating range... PS4S ftw.

Any tire besides a dedicated radial/DOT slick is going to struggle if you’re hammering it on a 650whp+ blower car. The simple physics of trying to instantly thrust a 4000lb car forward with that much torque means it’s going to knock the tires off in almost every instance. I do not believe that on these cars there’s many suspension options to increase grip once you’ve done all the suspension arms in the rear. Unless of course you want to switch to MRC or Viking coilovers.

In terms of tires the PS4 sucks at anything other than being an OK summer performance tire that lasts, is comfortable, and quiet. My Goodyear Supercar 3s hook up way better than my PS4s did (when they’re hot) and give far better steering feel and lateral performance. IMO you’ll want to ditch the PS4s ASAP and pick up at a minimum a GYSC3, or even better a Toyo R888, or Nitto NT555 RII. Just remember, even with those tires there’s a good chance you’ll spin a bit if you hammer it. It’s best to roll into it if you can. These cars have a lot of torque and are quite heavy as I previously mentioned. Good luck
