Key fob issues

Does your car ever not start after sitting for 3+days? I have fresh fob batteries and the car unlocks and trunk works etc, but I get in and press the clutch and brake and nothing happens, it just says "press clutch and brake pedal to start" after a few button presses on the fob of unlocking and locking it usually fires up and never has a problem starting again. What are your thoughts?

This has not happened to me.
Sounds like it might be interference issues with car detecting the fob.
Do you have cell phone in same pocket as fob?
Try putting fob in rear cup holder the first time you go to start it. That's the "dead fob battery detect" location. It should always work there.

Yeah its just weird because the fob works perfectly fine when I use the car regularly, only if i don't drive it for a few days does this happen. So I'm not sure what is causing the connection to be lost.

This is Sound Advice!!

I also noted that when using a faraday pouch to keep the signal from being detected, it will drain the fob batteries faster. So keep a stock of the CR batteries handy.

Kinda seems more like the clutch switch not the key fob

That's what I was thinking but seeing as it only does it when the car has been siting and only on its first start I wasn't too sure.

If it were fob it would say "no key detected"

That was my thinking two, but instead it just says, "press clutch and brake to start" which I agree, also sounds like the clutch sensor but that to me, doesn't sound right? Because it works every other time. It's just after it's been sitting so i'm just kind of at a loss of what it could be.

Maybe. the cycling thing is weird.
May just be a bad clutch switch. I would try to get a look at it.
There is also this "relearn" procedure referenced in this video, but you need a Tech2.

The switch isn't an on/off switch, it's more of a potentiometer. So as it sweeps through it's range of motion it could have a bad spot in the circuit board or the arm could be deflecting and completely pulling the contact pad away from the circuit board. Its the same type of sensor used for brake pedal position, I've replaced tons of those on most anything gm has put out so it's more than likely your fault. If you replace it your going to need to learn it's position just like you have to do with the brake sensor.
Pretty much use a scanner to learn where is zero and where is full travel. You could also just try that before you replaced it.
If you don't have a bidirectional scan tool then it would probably be a good idea to get one. I would bet a mx900 from amazon would be pretty close to the same price as taking it to the dealer for a diagnostic.
If you had the ability to look at live data you would want to look at "clutch pedal pressed" and it would display "true/false" for it. You could slowly press the pedal through its range of motion and look for a dropout from true to false.

Looney that I am, I thought that might mean the $200 range.
Haven't paid dealer prices in years

Okay gotcha, Ill start looking there, thanks so much for the help. I do question though, wouldnt it be an issue all the time? not just when its been sitting?

Yes, that is a weird bit, I agree.
it's acting like home electronics when there is a problem in the standby power supply (usually capacitors) and the remote won't turn it on after a while.

Yeah, if I drive it every 2 days or so, I literally have no problem at all.
