He's one of the Finance Managers at the dealership and sometimes it takes a day or two to hear back. If you don't, contact him again. He's about $250 less than others I got quotes from.

So I read on these boards that it’s best to buy them a little bit before your bumper to bumper is about to expire. Wouldn’t it be cheaper to buy it when your car is newer and has more warranty left?

How would buying the warranty through an out-of-state dealer work? Is it honored by my local dealer?

so Todd emailed me now comes another conundrum which plan do most people get that they do not put a lot of miles on it but plan to keep it around for 5-7 years? Also the other price determination is deductible which one to go with? Those that purchased these plans what did you go with?

TIA
Mark

I did the 0 deductible 48 month/40k mile platinum one month before my bumper to bumper expired. I bought my car new and have put about 18K on it in 3.3 years. It was $1083, March of 2025 purchase. You'll just have to figure how many miles you might put on in x years.

The GM extended is good at any GM dealer. Todd sent me a copy of the GM Global Connect info that shows all the warranty info. This is what a dealer would see when they type in your VIN. If you purchase from him, he'll tell you that it takes a while for the new info to show up in GM Global Connect. Here is what he sent me on it:

"Currently GMEPP does not send any confirmation. However, in about 45-60 days the plan should show up via your vin number through GmGlobal. You will not have access to this, your servicing Gm dealer will. If you'd like to circle back with me then I will send you a copy of the vin inquiry showing the plan details.

Feel free to reach out to me with any other question,

Thank you for the business!

I did reach out to him after the 60 days and he sent me the GM Global Connect info.

Yes, cheaper, but you're paying for coverage you already have, and it does overlap.

Curious but did you ask Todd about track use? I can’t get a definitive answer on whether or not hpde failures would be covered, then again it doesn’t say it’s covered in the normal warranty (yes I know folks have had engines replaced multiple times under powertrain due to track failures. I’m just pointing out that our warranty booklets don’t actually say hpde is covered).

I can actually give an example but I had a much smaller failure. On my 2016 SS, I had some vibration I couldn’t figure out and it occurred after a track day. I did slip in to my description of the problem to the service advisor that the vibration occurred after my track day. They replaced the driveshaft under the GM platinum warranty. Just not sure if they would replace an engine under that warranty if it were to fail.

I'm at work right now and don't have a copy of my contract but I remember something about "competitive" events and results from those are not covered. HPDE are not competitive events, but I bet there are dealers out there that may not see it that way.

Thank you for the extremely detailed info! That really helps. Guess I'd better start putting some cash away for that.
