Wiring Advice

Hey all,

First post here. So, exactly seven months ago, I bought my first car, a used 2016 1LT V6, and I gotta say, this is an awesome car. I have put on 4500 miles on it already and am about to do my first oil change for it.

I really like the look of the RS headlights that some Camaros have, but unfortunately, my Camaro doesn't have that RS package on it. So, I looked around online and bought some Morimoto XB headlights. They seemed like a decent aftermarket pair, plug and play with a fuse tap for the DRL, and in my opinion, look great.

My friend and I pull off the front bumper, and we notice that the passenger side headlight is an Eagle Eyes replacement and that there is a slight problem. I believe it's the two wires for the low beams; the Eagle Eyes headlight needed to be spliced with the cables on that eight-pin connector that normally plugs into a headlight.

Doesn't seem like too big of a deal; we can just crimp the wires again. Then we look at the back of the 8-pin connector, and I believe there isn't enough slack to crimp the wires back to that connector; it's a little short. We aren't exactly mechanical geniuses, and we don't have soldering tools.

I'd appreciate any advice or tips. Maybe it's a simple solution we haven't seen yet. I was thinking of maybe buying another one of those connectors with all the pre-attached wires, but I assume the ones I see online look the exact same, but might be different.

Two options:

1. buy a soldering iron and learn how to use it. heat shrink (with adhesive) for insulation.
2. buy the parts to re-pin the harness.

1 is by far easier and something every DIY mechanic should have.

Agree with purchasing a pin removal tool kit and new pins. soldering iron, tools every garage should have. Real simple. Might need it someday when you have to lay on your back on the garage floor and redo connectors after the mice get their way.

Once you remove the terminal and pull the insulation off, it will have a small piece of wire you can solder to. Without the need to buy a new terminal
