Can I run DTC 60s in the front with OEM in the rear?

Finally getting into a track pad, time to move on from the OEM ones. I want to get the DTC 60s on the front but I am not sure if that means I also need to get them on the rear.

I'm definitely not an expert on this!! That being said, I feel like you should be ready for a significant change in brake bias with that change. I think you'll definitely notice it, and it might upset the car under real hard braking. I've staggered pads before, dtc 70 front and 60 rear, and didn't really notice anything. I just run 70/70 all the time now. I'm curious if OEM rear and dtc 60 front would induce ice mode a little more frequently? Hopefully someone has actually run that setup and has feedback.

Yup get matching pads.

OEM are okay, but they're not DTC-60!

Brake bias will massively shift to the front. My recommendation is always to run the same compound on all four corners.

Looking over the Hawk recommendations if you're running high speed tracks you're better off running the DTC80 or at least the DTC70s, and running DTC 60s on the rear is fine. I have been running a staggered set up with GLoc R12 and R10. I am on my third set of front pads (changed when they get below 50%) and still have 1/2 left on the rears. The rears don't take near the abuse the fronts do. I found the OEM pads are adequate but are more prone to engage the ABS system, I would have no problem using OEM on autoX or low speed tracks less than 120mph anything higher would go to a track pad. Don't forget to flush the system with high temp fluid, I use SRF. I have never had an issue with ice mode from what I understand that's from braking and accelerating at the same time.

I dont think with the tracks I frequent i need the 80s. Im mostly at njmp with an occasional jump to a track farther away. NJMP isnt really a super high speed and heavy braking course.

I like the OEM pads performance wise but my last 2 sets have each had a chunk of the pad come out far before the pad was down to minimum thickness. The pads in the car now are missing a decent size chunk but there so much life left thickness wise.

I found the same thing when I took a set of OEM pads off, they were chipped and cracked and chunks fell off. Only had a couple thousand miles on the car when I changed them out.

I run COTA (very hard on pads) a lot and I've tried many combos. Short answer is no they don't need to match. It's better to get compounds that are closer together, but not a necessity.
